Hi all,

Advice being sought: I may have the opportunity to be in New Orleans this year, I will have about 48hrs, Friday Evening to Sunday Evening, to potentially do a status run from MSY.
Given that AA only flies code-share out of MSY into MIA, ORD or DFW - is it possible to do a decent run, for under $2,000, flying in AA Premium Economy,,err.. I mean First Class?

Im also interested in this - may get me to WP finally :)

I picked a random weekend in April, came up with MSY-DFW-MIA-SJU return for USD $979. Departing Saturday morning and arriving back in MSY Sunday night. Should earn 480 SC. There's probably many better ones out there, but you can start there.

Thanks :) That looks pretty good, was that overnight in SJU?
I'll get into more detail when my overall trip is confirmed, but from the sounds of things, it is possible to get a status run in 48hrs out of MSY ?

Yes that is overnight in SJU, so you would probably want a hotel. Although I have no idea what that would cost.

i get 210 SCs each way for a total of 420 for the round-trip (based on 60/90/60)

Are you searching the Instant Upgrade fares? I'm trying to put the above into the AA.com website multi-city search, and can't see the instant Upgrade fares. The J/F fares are coming out at $2,500

I was just looking at the J/F fares

Ah ok, sorry I now have some dates to work on, Friday 13th June Evening, need to return by Sunday 15th June evening. Seeing its a weekend, might make the fares more exorbitant :(

AA fly their own metal to MSY (I took these 2 flights last week on AA): AA 1669 MIA 10:35AM MSY 11:45AM 2h 10m Boeing 737 First (A)
Layover in MSY 1h 50m
AA 150 MSY 1:35PM DFW 3:15PM 1h 40m MD-80 First (A)

Edit: just realised that things are changing after March 31...

Are you using the AA.Com website to do such quick searches? using the Return or Multi-city options? Last time I flew domestically in the US, it was easy to book an Instant Upgrade fare, now i have no clue how to find it on their website.

It now lists as "Business" or "First" as distinct from "Business Flexible" or "First Flexible".
