Connecting to a Domestic flight from F

Is there a chance of baggage allowance issues ?
Trying to get home from DXB but the only availability I can find is through SYD QF2 then connecting to a domestic QF flight to MEL and I do plan on using up close to my full allowance.

Thoughts ?
Or it should be sweet ?

Is it all on the one PNR? If so no problems.

If not you may have an issue but show your previous BP and e-Ticket and you would probably be ok.

Yeh same PNR on an AA redemption. I love it how they just throw in domestic J connections at no extra charge

You'll be fine. When connecting to a domestic flight from international the more generous allowance applies to the whole journey. Same goes for if you're connecting to an international flight from domestic.

Interesting first post, are you sure that is always the case with regard to IATA and Most Significant Carrier (MSC) resolution 302 rules?

I am talking about OP's case. That is the whole context of this thread. My post is specific to QF, which is the carrier the OP's enquiry was about.

From the QF web site: "If transferring from a Qantas Domestic flight to a Qantas International flight, or vice versa, within 24 hours, the International Baggage Allowance is accepted on both flights. Present both tickets when checking baggage in."

Since it is all on QF metal, IATA resolution 302 does not apply.

However, if the journey was on 'mixed carriers' while and IATA 302 was in operation then "the most generous allowance" may not necessarily apply for the journey.

As for the QF reference its hardly after the fact when its in the QFF section :shock:

For the record Eminere has not posted any misinformation that I can see, just succinctly and correctly answered the OPs question.

To complicate things I want to repeat the DXB trip but there is no QF2/10 available on the day I want to travel so what I am thinking is to grab an EY flight that arrives into SYD roughly the same time (in F) then grab a QF domestic flight ?

If I show at the QF check-in that I just got off an F flight (albeit with another/rival(?) airline) would they let me get to MEL with the same luggage ?

No but presuming this is an AA award can they not book you through to MEL on the same award?

How about if I book the domestic with their Virgin partners ? Then perhaps they will be more lenient ?

It is an AA award but EY have a direct service to MEL however it arrives at night.
I need to get into MEL in the morning.

Yes. AA is region to region, the miles will be the same but there might be a slight difference in taxes for the other leg. Of course there needs to be availability as per usual.

In this case because you are using two different carriers, MSC will apply.

Oh, and if you are not an AA elite and are using a non-US credit card you will be charged "local ticketing fees" (see my thread in the AA forum).

This, never tried it but cannot see why they wouldn't do it.

What does MSC mean ? Maximum status credits lol ?

Most Significant Carrier. A IATA regulation defines whose rules (for things like baggage) apply when their are multiple carriers on a ticket.
