QF6 Aircraft substitution - no seats left & I don't want what I've been given

I'm in the same boat - QF5 on 18APR14 and QF6 on 21APR14. The re-timing has thrown out our connecting flights from and to MEL by a little. Also, the three of us were seated in Row 29 (bulkhead row) of Y+ and the config has now changed with Y+ from Rows 34-37. Strangely we've been moved to the very back row (37) which I'm not overly impressed with

Luckily the connecting flights booked into B fare bucket and could easily be moved backwards and forwards without hassle by the Platinum service centre.

Not sure what has brought about the re-timing this time. Poor old QF5/6 have been moved to 1505 and then back to 1310 and now back to 1510. As well as the constant aircraft changes, it has become QF's most schizophrenic route since it stopped going through to FRA!

LOL! If you can stop in SIN for dumplings then you can go via BNE for better comfort in superior aircraft.

Actually I hate the p1ssing around in BNE usually with the bloody bus terminal change.
Even when I've had the B747 connection it has been substituted for a Dom flight as we either land early or late or the connection is late.
So now I avoid BNE. Plus the flight from SIN is short as it is so I like as much sleep time as possible. The extra hr in the air makes all the difference for me. but each to their own journey.

And seriously ... Who can resist dumplings in any Asian port. The ones with the soup in them and pork that are steamed are so nom nom nom. You'd think those tiny things couldn't fill you up but after 3 or 4 steamers worth ... Nom nom nom.

I wonder if this is due to qf adding supplementary services to Santiago during April /may requiring extra 747's?

I got the notification of a change for my QF51 in October. Not a big deal, from 1030 to 1015 and arriving 5 min later at 1610. Is still shows as a 747, but my concern is that those flight times match up with the 330 flight times for that route. I'm in PE so a little concerned they might be doing some forward planning.
Any thoughts? Am i being too concerned?

Doubt it, as they have capacity to do captains choice and Antartica charters! more likely loads.

My QF52 in July did the same thing. My outbound flight on EK metal appears to have silently changed from an A380 to a 77W too...

My QF5 SYD-SIN in April was subbed from a 744 to a 333, and when I noticed this, the (J) cabin was chockers. Instead of a 'centre aisle' i had a 'side aisle' - not the end of the world but not my preference (my connecting flight MEL-SYD was also subbed from an int config 763 to a 738, thus my 2A went from being a window and aisle seat, to a window).

Fortunately for me (but not so for others here :(), QF5 was retimed (I am not connecting to anywhere) and it plainly did not suit at least a couple of pax because the middle pair of seats in row 4 opened up and I am now in one of those (4E?). :). And now 2C (aisle ) on the 738.
