A Rant.

Booked QF6 SIN to SYD in J. It was booked as a B747 with myself being able to select exit row upstairs.

Just received an email from QF re a schedule change.
In the email it only lists the booking ref and not the flight details which I hate as I then need to go looking for the booking to determine how 'serious' the change is. So within 2 mins of getting the email I logged into my QF account (and now just check my points balance as well).

Ok I know aircraft substitution takes place ... but the seating I've been given is 1 F/E (2 pax).
I've tried to change seats but they are are all taken. I hate 1 F/E.

I had previously booked QF6 well in advance as I like the B747 and I like to select the seats I want / choice seats.
I guess I'm a bit OCD about flying and my routine.

I guess I should just be thankful I have a seat.

Rant over.

Feel better now??

Seriously, though, if it upset you enough to rant here, why not give the WP Line a call and see if they can't move you back to seats located down the side of the plane - don't the middle pairs make you feel claustrophobic, leading you to book window pairs ;-) ??

Regards,

BD

Yep called ... no go as cabin full.

And pardon me for the rant ... the mild OCD in me likes some things lined up.

May be I kind of hoped that either booking early or status gave me an option to pick seats. And I must admit part of my airline selection on some routes does involve the aircraft type. The QF A330 is, IMHO, not as a good as a B747 upstairs especially in exit row. The toilet to pax ratio is very different, service different and the overall feel / experience is different. So have gone from what I think are the best seats (window / aisle exit row) to what I would see as the worst seats (mid seats next to toilet access row 1).

Thank you for your sympathies.

I'm annoyed by this change to QF5/6 schedule as it now arrives in SIN at 21:20 ... with my connecting flight out of SIN at 21:25. Confirm the changes to this booking? No thank you. Have been on the phone for an hour being transferred around.

Seems like they are making changes across many intl flights today as an option for my connecting flight is (er, was) QF1 to DXB arriving 00:35 to meet my flight out of DXB at 2:30. However, when I refreshed the page while talking to Qantas it changed the flight time to now arrive DXB at 02:00!

What's worse is I'm on PE for QF5/6, guess I'll be ending up in Y. Reckon nonpop may be thankful for still flying in the same cabin class :)

Im in the same boat flight wise 5 minute connection time. I was connecting to QF8355 (emirates flight to DXB and then onto Hamburg) The SIN-DXB-HAM flight is on a separate ticket all in J.

Im yet to call them up and see what to do, but im thinking of having them change me onto QF9 to DXB. I wonder does/can i apply for ORC? or is it not applicable> - Thoughts?

That's my flight from SIN too. They wanted to instead fly me the 6.30am from ARM to meet QF81 for travel in economy ... said no go due to things I have to do and organise that morning before I leave as well as I don't want to have my longest leg in Y and they said they won't give me J. Tried a few other flight options but they said they won't change to other airlines for a schedule change. After suggesting I just cancel the ticket and get full refund, they accepted moving the flights to the prior day and giving me a hotel room o/n in SIN.

And I'm with you nonpop I'm very peeved I couldn't keep my seat allocation on QF5 & 6 with these changes.

Don't know about ORC, sorry. What sort of difference in SCs is going MEL-DXB as MEL-SIN-DXB?

To my mind, that's a cop-out. Sure the cabin is full, but my guess is that the majority of folks wouldn't have even looked at their new allocation within such a short timeframe of receiving the notification.

If everyone has been moved, then why couldn't they shift one of those pairs for a WP?

Thank you for your sympathies.

No worries!!

My current routing MEL-SYD-SIN-DXB is 40+120+120 = 280 vs MEL-DXB = 180

So very helpful chap who basically said tough luck, take QF81 or the MEL option to SIN, so instead I have decided on a later flight from SIN to DXB 0140am ex SIN which means i wont use the DXB connect anymore, and only have a 4 hour wait there to connect to the HAM flight.

However there is no seats in the discounted J fare bucket on the 0140am departure left, so they have me waitlisted.

I offered the QF9 suggestion but the guy scoffed and and said no way to ORC.

Ouch! That is a big difference. Note that the 01:40 SIN to DXB is a 777-300ER instead of an a380, this might reduce your enjoyment of EK J as it has slope seats.

I can sleep on anything, especially at that hour. :) As much as I much prefer the A380, its still a damn sight better than getting that god awful QF81.

Edit; just heard back from QF, Emirates said no way to the wait list! so dunno what to do, I thinks a e-mail to the WP1 team is in order.

I hate aircraft substitutions. Have you tried asking for SIN-BNE-SYD or doesn't that interest you?

You have my sympathies - I am fairly OCD myself and absolutely hate aircraft substitutions. When we went to Hong Kong last year I just about planned our trip around getting an A380 both ways and was terribly upset when a 747 was substituted. They left us in 2A and 3A as well which I don't like on a 747 - fortunately I was able to change otherwise I would have had a rant as well!

Flight BNE to Singapore change......it appears everything through Singapore is changing y?

I'm on QF51 in T class, received the notification still shows as a 747. What dates are other peoples changes through SIN?

I'm end June out and end July return.

Check that you haven't had a config change - my changed flights still have 747s but they both went from the 40-seat PE cabin config to the 32-seat PE config which meant my seat allocation which was just forward of the wing is now right in the middle of it :(

Totally ridiculous. When is this change happening? And what ridiculous time is it supposed to depart SIN?

Hope none of my flights affected. This now changes future plans again.

I'll be coming from EU so home will be ideal direct as possible at that point ... Except with a short stop in SIN to grab some dumplings with the soup in them ... Mmmm dumplings

LOL! If you can stop in SIN for dumplings then you can go via BNE for better comfort in superior aircraft.
