Hi all,

I've just received an email from Citibank containing a variation notice to account terms and conditions. On pages 24-25 of 28 there is a table outlining new fees and charges but, as I'm currently overseas and reading it on my mobile, the formatting doesn't allow the text to appear in full.

Can anyone who's also received this (and loves the fee-free use of the Citibank visa debit card overseas) let me know what the text says and, in particular, whether my suspicion that they're imposing a foreign currency transaction fee (and thereby eliminating the whole value of the card to me) is founded?

Thanks!

The table says Plus is still excluded from the OS fee.

This is on page 22 of the variation:

No Citibank Fees are charged for Citibank Plus
Transaction Accounts (including no Dishonour
Fees, no Bank Cheque fees, no Telegraphic
Transfer fees and no International Transaction
Fees).

On page 24 it says international transaction fee 2.5% for Visa debit for all transactions in foreign currency. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

Plus is excluded from these.

Says excludes Plus on the top of the table.

so just to confirm the Citibank card i just applied for (the one discussed here to replace the 28 degree card :)) is still entirely fee free and transaction free for all overseas transactions and cash withdrawals?

yes, no change at this stage :)

excellent. thanks. now I just need to get around to activating my card!! (been sitting there for a while now)

Enjoy!

The Citibank/28 Degrees combo has served me well in the three months I've been away so far. Saving ~3% in international transaction fees, getting a very good exchange rate and even avoiding any ATM fees where I can find Citibank ATMs has at least provided some offset to the increasingly anaemic $A.

The only hiccup has been Citibank suspending my account once for precautionary security reasons even after I'd called them to tell them about my travels.
