QF expanding not shrinking services....

Cool stuff. Didn't think PER-DRW would ever get above a daily service with VA competition, good to see :)

Also probably related to the seasonal increase in demand by tourists during the dry season. Good to have more choices though.

Probably to fill the void by JQ relocating to ADL. Good to see Jetstarisation reversed!

Indeed, it was announced at the same time back in November IIRC, and of course the BNE and MEL flights have been operating since late last year.

Except the average pax just wants to go direct so will choose VA or JQ.

The exception is those of us who use sale fares to MR from MEL to OOL - can't imagine QF reinstating based on those figures!!

BD

Well they rarely offer MEL-OOL on sale. Even when BNE, SYD, ADL etc are on sale OOL is often still full price, around $171+

If QF see enough pax going MEL-xSYD-OOL then it could be considered.

If that's the way they plan routes then it's no wonder they're in trouble!

It'd be like saying there is no need for intra-asia QF services (or at least codesharing with a full service airline in that region) based on demand for flights on JQ Asia!

:)

Hasn't this approach been going on for years? Reduce services in October and re-instate them following the end of the wet, at end of March? What is the real increase in services from dry season to dry season? I guess though we are talking this time about JQ services being replaced by QF services.

Great news except for SYD-DRW-SYD. There is an extra Tues flight 844 out of Sydney at 1200. The night flight 846 is a 738 but the year round daily 842 which was a 763 (254 seats including 30 J) in the "dry" remains a 738 (168 seats including 12 J) so lots less Sydney seats each week in the dry.

In the last round of DRW cuts they got rid of the (usually full!) CBR-DRW route.. interestingly this isn't being given another go.
