Finally managed to get on a sky bed for a J flight MEL-PER on VH-EBL. Have to say, came back with mixed impressions of it but still much better than sitting in Y.
The plane was VH-EBL and I managed to get 2K. We were on the ground in MEL for an hour with technical issues which the captain did his very best in informing us of the delay and was quite happy with that. Kudos to him.
It took a little while to work out where everything was in the seat, the headphone port seemed a little dodgy but I did manage to watch about 12 episodes of big bang theory (most on the ground.) The feel of the seat is where I become mixed, as it's on an angle, it did make getting some sleep a bit tricky. The bump in the middle is probably what made it the most uncomfortable, guess this takes some time getting used to. The feel of the seat did feel a bit plastic like, guess this is also designed to save weight too.
The J class service from MEL-PER wasn't bad. The food was "okay" but the portions were fairly small. I think I'd rather have had what Y was having. The soup tasted nice, the asparagus with parmesan I believe and I opted for I think it was some sort of lamb pastry. I was still starving after this meal and there was just some peanuts to crave the rest of my hunger. Would have thought in J there would be at least some more options to get more food. I found this a little disappointing.
Other than that, this was also the first J class flight I've had across Australia, tomorrow I go back to CBR via ADL so two 738 legs.
