I had a problem with my J seat during a SYD-LAX QF11 QA380 flight. Essentially the part above the hip can be parallel to the deck but the part below the hip droops to the deck.

I did not make a fuss of it as I compensated by raising the torso part a bit.

However I did submit a email via the QF customer care facility (you cannot ring them direct - unless perhaps you are CL or WP+ ).

The email was to alert QF of the problem - I told them flight number, aircraft rego, seat number, so they can correct the problem. I did not ask for any compensation.

I was surprised a few days later, a reply came from QF customer care acknowledging my email.
And a complimentary credit of 15000 points - enough for nearly a SYD-MEL award seat.

I just hope they fix the problem: Seat 12B VH-OQH

That's interesting. The seat 'droop' is a well known problem with 'older' seats/beds - the hinges 'give'. (Maybe yours was an extreme case.)

ps alleviated by putting a roll-aboard under the drooping part.

Thought of using carryon under dropping part but it was full of camera gear..

The droop was about 10cm below horizontal at the foot end when fully extended.

It's a real problem with Skybed Mk 2 and has been occurring with seats only a few months/weeks old in some cases.

I have come across suggestions people have been standing on the end of them while the seat is in bed mode.

I had a similar problem on QF9 in October - VH-OQA - and my carefully pre-selected 12K drooped badly from MEL-DXB. I mentioned it to a Flight Attendant on arrival, and for my troubles was relegated to 22K for the DXB-LHR flight - which suffered a similar problem (maybe not quite as bad though). 12K remained vacant. Unfortunately I had either not yet read here, or forgot about, the roll-aboard solution, but that worked a treat for the return flight.
