I have my iTunes library stored on an external drive, and the backup is a copy of the iTunes folder. I could identify the bad sectors by folder name, and so skipped them when I was copying it back. That gave me the albums that had become corrupted, and which I will replace at some stage.

(BTW, does anyone have a copy of ABBA - Greatest Hits, and AC/DC - Live Collector's Edition...)?

That's how it was looking until this afternoon. But it's all good now. Working Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues then 3 months off.

Changed my PER flexi & got the points upgrade MEL - PER - MEL to J.

I did warn the first agent that it was complicated & she soon discovered that I wasn't kidding. Only fault was that she didn't apply the J upgrade on the way back.

Yes, as long as iTunes still has the license for them.

This is why I also back up all my iTunes to CD. You can never lose the license.

It would be, but at about 110Gb/20,000 songs I don't have the bandwidth (speed or quantity) to maintain/use it. Hence two HDDs.

Edit: iTunes Match also costs $34.99 p.a.

Never really got into usenet - found it tough to navigate. Not many clients for it either (but that was the idea).

Anyway, that only takes care of getting the music; it doesn't take care of getting it onto the iDevice.

I'm a complete halfwit so I have no idea how my iPod has 160GB of music on it, or how my nano has 16GB of classical music on it. This usenet thing is too hard for me, and I and as stupid as they come.

I'm in the process of streamlining and adding better music. (Just recently updated my Hawkwind, Motorhead, Kinks, HMHB, The Smiths, Housemartins, Tiny Tim and Beautiful South collections)

I wish (iWish?) Apple would release a 120Gb iPhone so I wouldn't have to worry about 2 iDevices. I am impressed that you have filled a Classic.

Another reason to hang onto all your CD's. You can legally rip them into MP3's. Plus you if sell or gift the CD's the next owner can rip the CD's.
However if you buy songs in electronic form, IIRC Apple makes you agree in the fine print you can't transfer the files to another individual.

Might be an ongoing issue as optical drives are progressively getting out of fashion on new computer systems. (Of course you can rip them once and be done with, but you may still raise similar issues later).

In the days of the old iPod classic, before apple drowned all of its competitors, I tried to resist the I-bandwagon, and got a 60g Creative Zen. It was, as a salesman recently admitted, a "smoking little machine" although ugly. I can't use it, as the little white connector to charge it with has gone AWOL, and the company almost has too. Has anyone any familiarity with these, or knows where I might access spare parts for such a dinosaur? There's a lot of stuff on it I'd like to hear again.
