Cheap and cheerful, the LAX Travelodge on W Century Blvd. Does the job with no bling.

Hyatt Place El Segundo, around 1.5 miles from the airport. Modern, new, clean and very nice.

Hilton does cheap rates too (sub $100) frequently with free shuttle bus from/to the airport.

I can endorse the advice of BAM1748 re LAX Travelodge. It exceeded my expectations. I quite enjoyed it. free 24 hour shuttle, too.

I've stayed at the LAX Airport Hilton & the Holiday Inn Express & both are great properties IMHO. I know of people that use the Hacienda because it's cheap & don't have a problem with it.

Another who has used Travelodge and while it's no Hilton or Hyatt, is clean and inexpensive and (as stated) does the job.
Note: mine was a daytime transit stay on a day rate

Hacendia.. got a room and pleasantly surprised..... Ment to tip the shuttle driver?
.

Gee Plant you won't be allowed back into Los Angeles with that Australian blooper.

How much couple of bucks?
Breakfast option...across the road or down the street?
This pace is good..quiet, hot shower, dow jones going bonkers on tv :)
Can people look at TID thread as have claim questions please

If the Porter holds luggage in storage..... How much do I tip him?
1 buck for 2hrs?

Were you "Involuntarily Denied Boarding" or did you "Volunteer" (reach an agreement)?

Tipping is an art that Australians find a complete mystery Plant so you won't be the first nor last to miss tipping opportunities.

Many Americans don't tip free hotel shuttle drivers. The time to tip though, is if they get up from their seat, and handle your bags.

The best tip that I ever had from an American (and they don't like explaining tipping to outsiders, especially ones who don't understand the concept of "not getting paid properly by the boss to do a good job") was - if you tip every time that you are meant too tip, then you will have no money left in your wallet.

Always check to see it is a one dollar note as twenties feel the same and look the same in the dark.

my thoughts are that priceline and hotwire are the ONLY two website to use when in North America - always snag a sensational deal with priceline

Have you tried to look for a BRG rate with either IHG or Choice Hotel properties? Considering you can get a free room, it's worth taking sometime out of your day to do this.
