Qantas and China Southern Sign Codeshare Deal

Wouldn't really want to fly China Southern, even if SCs/points are on offer. If QF really wanted to improve options for Australia-China (and add a route which would likely be profiable!) they should fly SYD/MEL-PEK direct.

QF in China will remain a joke so long as purchasing tickets on the website means having to present your CC at the Beijing or Shanghai QF office.

Agreed, would've thought a city like Chengdu would've been a better option.

Scott.

Urumqi is close to Central Asia and Russia, resource rich countries = high yielding... It was the hub for Xinjiang Airlines (merged)

No way?!?!? SQ let me use my Alipay account (Chinese style Paypal, I guess) to pay in RMB, along with any major credit card. Do they think that Beijing and Shanghai are the only two population centres in China, or that people are going to fly in to Beijing/Shanghai to visit the office just for the privilege of flying QF?

It's as though their trying to make sure as few Chinese passengers as possible use Qantas.

Does anyone know when the CZ and QF codeshare arrangements begins in full?

When I look on the Qantas site I cannot see the MEL-CAN or SYD-CAN CZ direct flights, but there are QF flights to SIN that connects with a CZ flight, but I would like to book CZ for MEL to CAN in Business.
I do a lot of work in Guangzhou and the schedule CZ is running works really well.
I flew their business service a couple of times on the older planes and it was adequate. Food not as good as QF, entertainment awful, but the seats were okay but not flat.
Still, if you're planning to do a days work when you land the schedule is awesome.
I have also booked a day room at the Pullman Hotel across the road from the airport that was good value.

The new CZ codeshare is alive now. Qantas.com.au is advertising AU-CAN routes operated by China Southern! Although QFF members could not earn on CZ yet but I assume all codeshare service could count for QFF points and status.

And I wonder if this thread could be moved to Qantas forum?
