Ahhh, Royal Children's Emergency. Took us 6yrs & 10mths for our 1st visit. 3mths & 1day later we're back again.

Monkey bars!!!! :(

Xray done. Radiologist said "something" is going on with Little Miss's elbow. Waiting to see the Dr again ....

Saw the FB post too - Hope Little Miss is okay :)

Maybe we should bribe grandma to babysit in the intervening years and do adult holidays...I think NZ is not a bad option with small kids.

We focused on Asia for the majority of the trips......easy to get award seats, short flights, pleasant easy holidays.

When the youngest hit 8 we switched over to Europe and will tackle Nth America in a few weeks.....thinking Sth America or Africa for the next one.

We took our then 5 and 10 year old on a wonderful trip to the USA. The five year old turned five while we were in Walt Disney World Florida and his birthday party was at Mickey Mouse's restaurant where he made a guest appearance with a birthday cake, attached to a helium balloon so it looked like the cake was part of a hot air balloon. Priceless - Mum and Dad (husband and myself) had a wonderful time.

But he says he doesnt think he really remembers it - as we talk about it quite a lot and we have photos of it in the family room - he's not sure where his memories are coming from - the experience itself or the later reminders.

Shame I would have to miss out on that training.

I dont get paid enough to start work at 08:00am....

I wish I could have missed it.

Turns out it was a time & motion study that they were very careful not to call a time & motion study. Anyone at my depot could have done it, it didn't need to be me specificly.

I really didn't get to go on a decent holiday until I became an adult. When I did, I was sure to do a lot of Australia first.

Even as an adult traveling in Australia, I didn't feel like I got a feel for some places until I went there a second time.

I did my first overseas trip as an adult, on my own. Wasn't lucky enough to be taken on the family trip to Europe when I was in high school.

On the upside, I get to go wherever I want and I'm certainly not going to forget any of it.

The word lite is often a good indicator of something not really good for you, with inference it's lite when it comes to fat (but often boosted by carbs, specifically sucrose) and will have more calories. I am presently working hard to reduce weight whilst I am not working, I have the time and lots of motivation after yesterday's GP visit where I was told I had one of the highest BPs he had ever seen, not helped by considerable stress from the old work with regards pushback on what my final pay should be 7 weeks after I resigned .

What about the stress from being a mod here :mrgreen:.

Depends on how many overseas trips you do.

Wish I could forget some of mine.

Good luck! It will be interesting to see what happens to the BP when the stress disappears/reduces. Stress certainly doesn't help.

We did a 3-month holiday when minis were 6, 9, 10 years old. Their consensus is that 6 is too young to remember, 9 should have remembered but he was not overly observant at that age. My big trip as a child was when I was 10, and I remember much of that holiday vividly, even taking my own family back to places I remember visit 30 years earlier. So if you want the kids to remember it well, I would be aiming for 10 years old, and certainly no younger than 8.

I was 7 when I did my first overseas trip to New Zealand, the year is on Facebook with route and airline, there is a few parts of the trip that I remember, but a whole lot I don't remember. I remember the plane stopping in a hurry in Auckland after it landed and then the long walk through the different parts of passport control. I remember arriving at my grandparents place just before mid night; it was 9pm back home.

We had to change the car as the first hire car had a fault, both cars were the same colour a light brown sedan without rear seat belts.

The holiday itself was good but there are parts I can't remember.

I think I came home via Sydney but can't really remember it.

Now we have technology to take lots of photos because that can help jog your memory.

Spoke to another colleague about the incident & he'd heard the same guy had a broken kneecap. I predict by next week, he'll have a fractured skull.

Got to love Chinese Whispers.

Spoke to another colleague this morning. His condition has been "upgraded" from fractured ribs to bruised ribs & should be back at work on Monday. If it was me, I'd want to wait until the bruising & pain went away.

I was also told that the building ended up rotating 3 times. A nearby portaloo was not damaged. Imagine if the wind took hold of that!

Will be interested to see what the guy's stated condition will be next week.

Bruising can hang around for weeks. It may be that pain remains for months. Not conducive to anyone staying off work that long. And if the pain remains once the condition is stable then he will receive further workers compensation. But would be expected to return to some kind of work once cleared by the drs.

With regards to weight loss, I've been really surprised at the hidden calories in food.

For instance, I was working in the office and wanted to buy what I thought was a healthy option. It was a very tiny chicken and salad wrap. I calculated the calories from the kilojoules listed on the packet and found it was one third of my daily allowance. And it was so small that a guy might even have had two! So really start to look at the calorie content of foods you buy.
A simple cheese and tomato sandwich with some margarine is close to 400 calories. I would need 2 of these for lunch and still be hungry.

But what works for one person could be have the opposite effect for othets.

There may well be some light duties stuff he could do if he isn't fit to do his normal job. But I wouldn't rush back to full duties if not fully recovered if I was him.

And there goes a huge wack on your calorie allowance if trying to lose weight. Too many carbs. Not enough protein. You will feel hungry again in a couple of hours. Substitute a sandwich with some steamed vegetables and a boiled egg.

No. That is not what I have for lunch. I was just giving an example.
