Majority 'don't trust' female airline pilots

I trusted a female so much to bring me into the world I do not remember it.
To trust a trained female pilot to fly a plane is easy after that.

Think about coughpit warning sounds which are all male voices.
Effects of talker sex and voice style of verbal ... [Hum Factors. 2009] - PubMed - NCBI

People respond faster to male voices. We're neurologically conditioned to instinctively act on strong male issued commands.
Based on this line of thinking; although not my view - I can understand why people "don't trust female pilots"

This is incorrect. I have personally flown two large transport aircraft (FAR25 certified) that have female voices as the EGPWS voice. One was actually a recording by the CEO of the companies wife! I actually think that the male brain responds to a female voice far more effectively than a male voice.

I can actually remember the time when the ABC radio used a woman to read the news for the first time. Somehow I felt it lacked credibility and then I remembered all the years of conditioning that led to that response. Felt the same way when I first saw a young woman running her hand through her long haired boyfriend's curly locks!
Nowadays no one worries who reads the news so long as they are kept up to date.
Glad we are in an era when we can appreciate people for their skills and talents. JoyV

But I remember a time when ABC announcers could pronounce words correctly.

Especially long-time married men, I suspect .

Best person should get the job. Airline pilots can be female and I would not think twice about it.
At the ABC you are not allowed to say "he/she went missing" and you can be expecting a call if you pronounced Cairo as Kero.
The ABC still has high standards. Then there is poor old Channel 10 where the guarantors are asking for almost 20 million or down they go.

Interesting fact i just discovered.

The first female train driver for Tokyo Metro to be appointed since WWII was in March 2002.

The only standards the ABC enforce is to ensure all reporting is skewed towards homosexual disabled part-indigenous welfare-bludging transgendered artists.

Why don't you let them know of your thoughts - I'm sure they'll take them on board. Make sure to include your full name and address when you do, so that the various departments know how to get back to you. You wouldn't want to come across as an internet coward, would you?

I guess that meant the ABC is not fully supported by everyone in AFF.
Let me just say that women who qualify to fly a plane or drive a train, truck or car should be allowed to do this regardless of which country they are from.

This is probably up there with one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever seen on AFF and I have been here a long time. Kinda hoping it was a drunk hit&run comment.

I am fully supportive of women in any job they have proven capability and qualifications to perform.

Don't care who is flying the plane, as for gender, had recent flight SYD/CNS on QF, a female captain and one of the best informed flights and landings I can recall.

Just having come back from Japan, it was interesting that the train drivers job is very highly prized, especially on the Shinkansen. I'll let others fill in the gaps about Japanese women and the expectations of them working, and who kept those prized jobs in house for mostly one sex.

Well as much respect as I have for sunshine.co.uk as a world renowned polling company, and an organisation that in no way would rig a survey knowing it would go viral and result in free publicity, I think except for a handful of recalcitrant most people would be comfortable knowing the training and experience requirements would be the same regardless of gender.
