A few updates from me,

I am now staying at Best Western Hobart, as the status match has just gone through for me.

I am now departing on the 3rd of December, on QF1020 instead. (decided to book a JASA and cancelled the red e deal).

The cash for the dinner and activities will be in your bank account shortly JessicaTam :D

I have just booked the RACV/RACT Hotel and there seems to be reasonable availability. It is also cheaper for the various auto club members.

I should have an adequately sized apartment to host after dinner beverages for the well behaved attendees in the list.

Might have to give Woolstore a call tomorrow and make sure they look after you :p

On that note, Hadley's Hotel has 6 rooms available on the weekend of AFF7 with Superior Queen rooms available at a discounted rate (possibly the cheapest you will find in the city centre that weekend, $180 for Friday and $160 for Saturday night) on their website Welcome | Hadley's Hotel | Hobart Hadleys Hotel, you would also be very well looked after ;)

Has the venue for Welcome Drinks/Dinner been decided yet? I have a venue in mind if not...

PM sent...

For those who have not booked accommodation yet ratestogo.com has a 15% discount available for today only.

Having not previously booked I found that accommodation is getting tight for that weekend but got a 'Standard Queen Room' for two at the Travelodge, (incl breakfast and a midday checkout) for $111.42 per night. :D

I think you are safe as penegal is good for 4 holes! :p

Sorry penegal totally uncalled for! ;)

hahaha lets not talk about that :p

I lasted the full 18 holes at the AFF #4 golf challenge, although fed the ducks a few times

Monies received from blackcat20, gwilli1 and straitman x2.

The spreadsheet has been updated accordingly.

(That's 12 of us paid).

We are almost in the home straight, so a gentle reminder that if you have not yet paid, please do so. I will need final numbers for the Cascade tour by the 15th and final numbers and $ for dinner by the 22nd.

If you are not going to Cascade, but would still like the bus back to Hobart from MONA, let me know so we can co-ordinate one drop-off point. By the same token, if you are getting to HBA on Saturday and would like the bus from the city to Cascade I will try to make the drop-off and pick-up place coincide!

I am getting a little bit excited.

Hi all! Whilst I'm not attending, and never have yet :( I do travel to Hobart a lot. My favourite place in Australia, actually.

My little secret is for well priced decent accommodation in the centre of town: Central Cafe Bar. Been going there for years. Ten rooms, all of same standard. One level above a bar (which shuts well before 11), and two levels above the only bottle shop in town. Usually around $100-130, with a free (modest) freshly cooked breakfast included always. I have eggs Benedict always.

If you get to Salamanca, which I assume you all will, men make sure you head to the toilets at The Quarry. You'll see why.

And of course, taking the ferry to MONA is an absolute must.

Enjoy! Hope to meet you all some time soon.

I'm sure I read about that place in the Qantas magazine, and really wish I'd held off booking :p but it's no worries.

I am tempted to fly in late saturday for post dinner drinks, and sunday brunch. Put me down as silvery goldy silver and if i can convince myself tonight i'll book something.

Well the tour of Lark Distillery is on. $15 per person which includes a sample of "3 Lark whiskies and our whisky liqueur".

The distillery would like prepayment, so if you would like to come along, please add $15 to your payment for the event, and post/PM accordingly. The distillery is near Constitution Dock, so within walking distance of most of the HBA hotels that AFFers are staying.

Edit: The tour will be at 12.30, so enough time to start to recover from the night before.

It will go for about 45-60 minutes, which will give enough time for those departing that afternoon to get to the airport.

Reading all these places makes me so jealous. Lark is awesome. I hope most of you get the chance to head to Cascades too.

Remind me next week, it's a pay week :D

I agree on all those points. There is great boutique accom at Battery Point, the back of Salamanca as well 'guest houses' with a few rooms each,

Great eateries close by. My fav was an Italian joint near a pub - names escape me at present.

I have made over 60 trips to HBA and never tired of the place.
