Rydges PriorityGUEST: have they lost the plot??

So far I've not had any issues. I must admit I only have Gold with them but all seems to be fine.
I like:
* The member booking discount saving 10%
* The accelerated points earn for free night for Gold vs entry level
* The F&B discount which for entry level and gold is 20% and you do not need to be staying at the hotel (excluding breakfast and room service)
* Late check out
* Welcome drink voucher for the bar (house wine, beer, bubbles, soda etc) - and when 2 of us we always get 2 vouchers
* Usually I get a 'better' room i.e if I book a mountain view vs ocean view, I will get a high floor mountain view
* No issues with FREE night availability points burn e.g just booked QT Gold Coast for Jan Australia Day long weekend
* And other discounts such as 50% off wifi and some other things I don't use

So overall, I think it checks the boxes for this family.

Whenever I have had any queries I ring the hotel directly and get it sorted out.

At Rydges ( capital Hill ) I was charged 3.5% credit card fee when most other hotel chains charge 1.5% that is not only losing the plot but taking the PI$$. Maybe the RBA should investigate as they are either very stupid and getting ripped off by their back or they are charging over the odds of their costs as no other hotel chain charges that much.

What type of card? Visa have a reporting process (email within this link): http://visa.com.au/include/Consumer_Fact_Sheet_Surcharging2013.pdf

Amex and MasterCard no doubt have similar processes but I can't find them right now.

Thread back from the dead. Times change. Booked at Rydges Melbourne in Jan as I could get a nice PG member rate, am still slightly annoyed at IHG for turning several points earning bookings into non earners with their, uh, enhancements.

It was also a place we stayed on our honeymoon 20 odd years ago and they booked me into the bog standard room we stayed in then. One way to guarantee no upgrade!!

Cheers skip.
