Just wondering which are the best EK a380 J seats and why. Doing a trip soon and the available seating chart shows the whole cabin is available to me. Traveling with Mrs Eric, so would like to sit together if poss but with me at a window. Seat guru shows window seats as being staggered

On EK A380 J, there is no side-by-side window seating.

It is all staggered.

The middle seats EF are close together - but no windows.

I sat in 7K and 9K recently - both window seats.

The side storage / locker is a winner for me.

Also, A/K seats are slightly "inside" to those walking past you (cf. B/J seats where you are right next to the aisle and further from windows). Same issue with DG (where you have no positives to speak of).

If holding hand is a must, you have no choice but EF.

Otherwise, go for A or K seating in two adjacent rows.

Thanks for your reply, "holding hands" isn't high on my need too list, however it is nice to sit next to swmbo to have a drink or food but for me a window is more important although I don't know why, over the ocean at 40000ft at night you don't get to see much. After looking at the seat layouts etc we have taken 16k and 18k

16/18K is slightly towards the back - closer to the lounge / loo - but is also exposed you to people walking from further up on their way to those two amenities.

When I sat in 7/9 K, there was virtually no one walking past you at all.

But 16/18 won't be affected by lounge noise, if any as it is far enough.

9A/K is my choice.
These window seats are like a mini F suite.
Good sleep away from the isle traffic.

To be honest I'm getting a bit worried that if I ever experience A380 EK J, I might have to dust off the antique Skywards Blue card and try my luck at a status match  :p

Do a few long hauls in an EK J window seat and it is all over.
Then of course there are the F upgrades.
But the J windows are almost as good as the F suites.
Only thing you may miss is the F shower.

BTW no need for an EK Status match.
Plenty of QF code shares on EK metal.
Get that seat and the QF SCs!!!!

Eric, you and your wife will enjoy the EK mini suite J window seat experience.
Considerably more storage room.
No one to step over.
Clear isle access.
Prepare to be spoiled as there is no going back to another J seat.

Thanks for the reply fx, believe it or not I have flown 2 times before in F on the 380 and once on the other (777 I think) but have never flown (down the back LOL) in J. Thanks

I managed to snag a second EK F seat for this Friday Per-Dxb-Lhr. So will get to test out the 777 and A380. Coming back from Europe is QF J on A380.

Will give you a detailed TR to compare. :)

That's the J lounge at the back of EK A380! Wonder what the F lounge at the pointy end is like?

It doesn't look from this link as if there is one. Moving forward on it shower and toilets are at the front of F I think at the top of the stairs.
IIRC F and J use the same bar area

Oh OK, that makes sense. On my last EK A380 flight (J, DXB-MEL), a friend of mine was the CSM. He showed me most of the plane, including where crew sleep, etc, but we did not get to see the shower area... I, apparently wrongly, presumed there was also a separate F lounge. Must admit the bar at the back of J was brilliant, complete with a hostess trained in the art of bar tendering. Makes a complete mockery of QF A380 J lounge.

Do you get into trouble for taking a 15 minute shower? Or is it a wet-up/soap-up/rinse-off like boarding school was in my Dickensian day with a boarding master overseeing proceedings ;-)?!
