Pardon me for being vain, but why doesn't either Qantas Frequent Flyer or Virgin Velocity offer badges/flair so users can show off their status on Facebook, websites and/or forum signatures like you can with your Xbox gamertag?

It seems like a great marketing tool that also happens to play to some customers' egos. Hmm... what about gamifying air travel in general, with achievements like 'status run', 'RTW', 'impromptu trip' or 'openjaw' :)

IHG have badges in their current win big promo!

DYKWIA folk shouldn't need a badge!

DYKWIA? :p

A frequent flyer tattoo would demonstrate more commitment.
Could include your barcode for scanning at the gate.
May be best waiting until you have at least LTS though.

This thread changed direction pretty quickly. I was talking about virtual badges; even I'm not vain enough to physically wear my status around. I still have the awkward feeling of cutting the line when using the priority boarding queue :)

But given we're going in this direction anyway, how about pocket protectors where you can slide your frequent flyer card into it and use it as ID? It makes the DYKWIA act a lot easier; just point. Plus it'll be like a coughtail party every time you visit the lounge; who knows where that may lead!

we can make you a nice sash like they have in the scouts.

O scouts, we could all get woggles with AFF on them and wear a scarf around our necks, different states have different colours. Just for the record I was kicked out of my scout group for reading last tango in Paris and swearing like a drunk sailor, nothing much has changed and that was 39 years ago.

Originally in the Ask The Pilot thread but moved elsewhere, someone asked if there was a special AFF handshake.

Then someone suggested the use of the AFF bag tag for a similar purpose.

Could get confusing for the status junkie if everyone awarded a "badge/pin" which one would you wear ?

It could be like an order of Australia, The order of the flying tragic, awarded to people who go above and Beyond the normal to achieve status, in his or her chosen field of endevour.

Interesting idea, not that I'd be partaking in it if it were on offer, I don't even feel the need or desire to list my status on my profile on here, my ego doesn't need stroking that badly.
