I recently booked an AA award flight ADL-LHR return in QF First (J from ADL of course) for my partner.

Firstly, I should just say that thanks to this forum the process was easy. I searched, booked and paid online with no issues - and got the flights I wanted only 2 months out. There was a bit of stress involved because my partner's mother (who lives in the UK) has just been diagnosed with cancer. Being able to get her over there at pretty short notice and in comfort for not much more than a Y fare is just great - so thanks to this community for making it possible.

Getting to my question:

As she is only QF bronze, and assuming this counts as a Oneworld First fare - what lounges will she have access to along the way?
I realise she won't be on a QF ticket and so won't have access to the EK First lounge in Dubai, but apart from that, will she be able to access all QF/OW First lounges? Does it matter that it is an award fare?

Also, assuming she can access OW first lounges, which lounge do you suggest she tries in Dubai?

Thanks

If she is on QF9 or QF1 or any other QF8nnn number in First class she will indeed have access the the EK First lounge at DXB.

The flight number is all important.

The ticket number isn't (001- for American Airlines)

Really? That's great. QF9/10

I put the question to someone on the Premium desk the other day (at the end of a long call about another issue), and the lady said that my partner would definitely not get chauffeur drive because it is not a QF marketed fare, and for the same reason she didn't think access the the EK lounge in DXB would be available (as both benefits are QF/EK and not OW). I understood the chauffeur drive situation, but no EK lounge access did seem a bit harsh...considering everone else in the F cabin would be let in!

I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: Qantas lounge access rules are far from easy to understand.

Thanks Serfty, I had read those links previously, but now they seem to be making more sense.

DXB Lounge - "Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas or Emirates flight"
As you suggested, this looks like a YES.

Chauffeur Drive - "Chauffeur Drive is only available in selected locations to customers holding tickets with confirmed reservations in First or Business on eligible Qantas or Emirates operated flights. Reservations for Chauffeur Drive through Qantas can only be made for flights booked as part of a Qantas ticket (starting with ticket number 081)"
As this has been ticketed by AA (001 ticket number), it looks like a NO.

Thanks everyone.

I can't find the info relating to a QF ticket number at the page you linked.

It's there in the first paragraph of the T&C's: (Qantas Chauffeur Drive Terms & Conditions)
1. Chauffeur Drive is only available in selected locations to customers holding tickets with confirmed reservations in First or Business on eligible Qantas or Emirates operated flights. Reservations for Chauffeur Drive through Qantas can only be made for flights booked as part of a Qantas ticket (starting with ticket number 081), at destinations where the Chauffer Drive service is offered. Passengers travelling on Emirates tickets (starting with ticket number 176) should make reservations through Emirates.

Bugger. I wonder if that was there from the start. I got the solitary F award through AA that I'd been chasing but it seems the chauffeur perk isn't included.
