Firstly, apologies if this has been covered previously.

I might need to head to Bali from PER early next year. Obviously QF don't fly there. Several questions

1) SWMBO is a WP and myself SG. If we book directly through J*, other than lounge access in PER, are there any other benefits extended? Free luggage? Seat selection?

2) If booked through QF with a QF flight number same questions as above. Also, does that then include the meal and FF points or not?

Any other tricks I might want to consider?

Status benefits on JQ? You are kidding me right?
Also are you able to book the QF number as a stand alone? I am fairly sure the QF sight will direct you to the JQ flight number...

1) no other benefits besides the lounge, if it's open for your flight.

2) I believe you get luggage a minimum amount (20 or 23 kg) no meal or seat selection. You need to pay for a bundle to earn points, but you cannot pay for a bundle if booking via the QF website. Actually, having said all that if you try to book only JQ flights on the QF website, it;ll kick you out to the Jetstar website, so back to option one

It seems to me that Jet* offer the opposite to perks for QFF - if they even smell the WP status then the looks you get (and no I have never played the old 'I am a QFF WP' trying to get anything. Even an exit row might be nice as I am 6'5 but no they would rather sell it to a 40kg 65 year old lady who can barely pick up her bag let alone an exit door - sorry for the rant. Basically expect nothing on Jet and you may not be disappointed.

Thanks for all the replies.

I notice the prices for the same ticket on the QF site are dearer than directly with J*. If QF just sends you to the J* site, does the fare drop or just rip-off the ignorant traveller?

Can see very little reason to fly J* over VA for this sector. Almost would consider Garuda...but I quite like living :)

You can only book the QF code (JQ metal) if booked as part of an international itinerary booked from overseas, or as a FF redemption ticket.

You can get NOTHING, NADA, except for disappointment which is complimentary.

However in your case you are well aware you're booking JQ, so I'm sure you'll be fine (and have already downgraded your expectations).

QF did recently enhance their website so that QF originated bookings include base baggage allowance. This represents the cost difference in the websites. YMMV of course - so check carefully because anything is possible and always subject to change with QF and JQ.

Pick VA - IMHO.....

Had some work mates use them and the reports were very positive. They do seem to have modernized their fleet and picked up their game.
YMMV but please consider.
