Duty free alcohol into Australia

Here it is. It's before BOARDING time, not departure time.
Have they increased the time recently? I am certain I have purchased duty free alcohol in the past much closer to boarding time.

I have only got ~2 hour transit in SIN in a couple of weeks time on the way back home so I will need to purchase 2 bottles in BKK (have 2 arrivals) on the way over.

Are the prices in BKK much better than SIN? What do you usually get?

Roughly the same.

I usually buy Smirnoff Vodka which was ~SGD16.70 in SIN and ~THB480-500 in BKK. At other times I have purchased Jack Daniels for a friend.

Shows you how much attention I have been paying. So definitely will not be able to purchase this trip as I only have ~2 hours transit.

Wow, alcohol in BKK is cheap!
I'm going to BKK next month, returning BKK-SYD-MEL, all on QF.
Are there any LAG restrictions if I buy in BKK and travel HLO?

Yes, standard 100ml in the bag and you and your hand luggage will be searched at the gate prior to boarding.

Oh thanks, do they have a "deliver to the gate" option like in SIN that has been described upthread?

No - at BKK they should not even let you purchase if you are goinf to Oz.

Thanks, oh well, looks like there is no way of buying and bringing back cheap alcohol in BKK if travelling HLO.

Shame they will not allow duty free purchases when travelling to Australia.

If you can somehow purchase on arrival into BKK and then check your luggage departing BKK that is a good win.

Can you carry on DF alcohol into Australia from NRT? It is my first time in NRT, can anyone advise how favourable prices are or aren't?

Does anyone know if international transfer at BNE involves going through security? I have a transfer from QF52 to QF8 next month and I am trying to make a choice between sourcing my df in SIN or paying bigger prices on arrival into oz.

Yes, you go through security at the transfer point.

Thanks markis10. Looks like I'll be paying aussie prices for this lot of booze - that's if they will sell it to me at BNE or SYD. Suppose I might have to show my QF52 BP.

Edited to add: I value the 40 extra SC more than the cheap grog :)

No you wont - that changed last year from July 1st to allow the sealed duty free bags (unopened) through transit security.

Restrictions for inbound flights to Australia
Have your duty free items in their sealed plastic bag ready for screening upon arrival at the Australian international gateway airport transit screening point.

Thanks serfty. I'll be handling that bag very carefully to make sure it doesn't get damaged.

(OT) I've got a little less room now that I requested a CPAP travel clearance which resulted in being moved from 5J to 8A on both the 52 and the 8
