I am due to fly ORY-MAH via BCN in June. The service is operated by Vueling Airlines. If I purchase an Iberia ticket with Iberia flight number on the boarding pass, I ASSUME I can access the Iberia VIP lounges in both ORY and BCN as a OW Emerald. If however I purchase the ticket direct from Vueling with a Vueling flight number on the Boarding Pass, do I still have access to the lounges?
Have emailed Iberia with the question but no reply as yet.
Many thanks to all you learned folk

Going by the oneworld rules, you would have access to any available oneworld lounge if travelling on an IB flight number (i.e. The Marketing Carrier).

Lounge access - oneworld

If on a Vueling flight number I doubt you'll get access.

See this FT thread: Iberia Lounge Access for Codeshare ticket? - FlyerTalk Forums

(Note the oneworld rules changed recently and you merely need a flight "operated or marketed" by a oneworld airline. Until about November last it used to read "operated and marketed".)

Does anyone have any recent experiences with IB flights operated by Vueling? I notice that the oneworld rules now seem to require "operated AND marketed by a oneworld carrier". Seems if I was an IB platinum I'd be sweet, but not as a OWE. Seems rich.

That as a short live (I guess) typo in the online rules and they were chnage back to 'and' soon enough.

I have not come across anecdotes of this since the 'rectification' so am unable to offer guidance.

Thanks Serfty. All I can hope is that if I print my BP online it will spit out IBERIA branding and maybe even my QF WP status will show as IB VIP Platinum. On the Passbook BPs with AA, my status "converts" to AA Executive Platinum!!!

Just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience on an IB ticket but flying on vueling metal? As a ow emerald will I receive lounge access at ORY? I receive free baggage on an IB ticket so the price works out the same if I fly on an IB ticket or a vueling ticket.

I would start lowering your expectations - Vueling is a horrible, horrible airline. I flew Transavia from Spain to ORY and even though they are also low cost they are brilliant.

I've heard that Iberia themselves are pretty ordinary... I'll find out for myself soon enough in a few month's time.

Expect nothing from IB except for the safety demo to be done three times in three different languages. English, Spanish and the language of the country you're heading to.

Thanks Smit. I've flown Vueling before and didn't find them too bad. Will see how things go this time around. Do I earn points and sc on an Iberia ticket but on Vueling metal?

No points and SCs earned for VY when you eneter your QFF number. VY isn't a oneworld airline so only credits to IB. Similar to how JQ only credits to QF. No lounge access either as it's not a oneworld operated flight. Only IB elites would have access (again see the QF/JQ situation). Shame really, as ORY is a bore of an airport.

Just thought I'd add that I have just successfully gained access with my girlfriend to the Iberia lounge (operated by a third party) located near D gates at Terminal 3 in Rome Fiumicino.

My flight is VY6255, codeshare IB5961 to Orly. I booked through Iberia hoping that I'd try my luck.

The lounge dragon just kept muttering to herself in Italian. I heard Sapphire mentioned a few times (I gave her my QF card), and she scanned, and typed. We are both waiting there with bated breath wondering whether we are going to get in, and then bam, no questions asked. Lounge is pretty miserable but better than the rest of this airport.

I have a feeling you may have more luck in a non-affiliated third party lounge, as they are run for a range of different airlines and probably don't know the rules for each. Confidence is probably key.

Bump ~ Can anyone report recent experience in a similar situation ~ ow emerald flying on an IB marketed & sold flight but VY metal.

Wondering if any recent experience of this situation departing BCN?

Thanks,

tb

Not BCN, but I recently flew from FLR on BA and managed to access a third party lounge with my P1 card. Wasn't expecting entry but the attendant had a sheet and mentioned Qantas was okay.

You may have luck.

Also interested in any recent experiences flying VY on IB coded tickets out of BCN - particularly lounge access?
