Either MEL-DXB or DXB-MEL ?

Could have gone 2x QF J seats but tempted to try the Suite so then will slum it in Y on in the other direction lol.

Also:
*How does the DXB F lounge compare to the MEL F lounge ?
*EK404 leaves MEL at 9:30pm - how early can I access the F lounge ? I def want to sample the food on the plane so maybe have a late lunch in the F lounge then a late dinner on the plane.

Any thoughts or comments appreciated

Thanks

EK lounge in DXB not as good as QF version. Note the lounge does not stay open in Melbourne for the EK flight:

04:30 to 17:30

Fudge me I am getting shafted lol.
Is there an EK First lounge in MEL ? Whats the next best alternative to the F lounge ?

Does the EK Chaueffer close early as well lol

Also do you know if there's a DXB-MEL direct ? I've tried searching but they all seem via SIN or BKK (and connecting to J* lol) or CMB.

There is an EK lounge, the only F lounge in the EK network exists in DXB, at that time of the night there is not a lot of choice, in fact none (excluding the QF J lounge)

Markis if you had the same choice and had to fly EK F either there or back (and to make it simple lets say you were comped) given the time of day the flight is and all other factors would you choose the F sector to be the flight there or on the way back ?

Toss a coin I say, really hard to give one the preference.

I'm tempted to fly F in the MEL-DXB leg because in 14 hours I feel you could really enjoy the Suite with enough time to eat, sleep as well as watch movies, etc.
And in Y breaking up the flight is often a good idea.

My only regret would be not seeing the F lounge lol might have to chase WP after all

Coming back in Y is going to be an enormous let down. Don't EK have 10 seats across? I'd leave the best till last, I'd prefer to have something to look forward to to cap the trip off in style.

Actually, I'd just go J both ways. When you've made it to WP you could try booking J on EK for the next trip and see if they offer to upgrade you to F. There has been a thread about this just recently.

I know what you're saying but the flights on the way back are two legs neither of which are even a380s. One of the legs is a 777-200 which I don't think is even a suite and the other leg is the 777-300ER which is a Suite but I'd only get it for 7 hours.

Does anyone know if Emirates do a DXB-MEL direct on the a380 ?

Agree with coming back in Y being a letdown. But I fly long-haul Y more than J and can generally sleep anywhere.

Thanks for your thoughts :)

Definitely fly J both ways! Slumming it in Y will be torture ;)

You can then perhaps upgrade one of your sectors to F with cash. Just keep asking each flight until you get a price you like.

I would agree with that, if you really want to take a shower in the air, do F with EK in between BKK and HKG for $500 (or trans tasman).

Personally, I'd fly the a380 from DXB to SYD then take a domestic connection to MEL. Others hate this but I've never had a problem doing that.

You mean as in an upgrade at check-in ?
Or do you mean call up for this the way you used to (?) be able to upgrade a JASA to F on QF ?

Do you reckon I could sneak into the F lounge at SYD this way ? Lol

Also does anyone know if you can earn Skywards Miles on Emirates flights (EK flight numbers) purchased with QFF point redemptions ?

No, it will book into a non earn award fare bucket if its a classic, if its a ASA and not a marginal one it may, but it will be expensive!

Thanks mate. Nah its a classic- for once !
Whoever said there's a first time for everything was right I suppose lol.

Maybe do the F experience on an EK A380 via the soon to be released Trans Tasman hop, via QF ticket, so you can get into the QFF Lounge and have a shower at 40,000 feet?
Then Y back to Aussie?

Great idea.
How soon is this to be released ?
I wanted to go in September.

Also unsure how hard/easy it will be to get F redemptions on this new route ?

But def worth looking into, cheers.

As long as you book the EK F flight via QF, you will get QFF Lounge access.
From what I read, the deal is done.
Both EK and QF are getting their booking engines aligned to do the business.
