Booking 2X J award LAX-MEL for end of Dec/early Jan 353 days in advance

Is it possible? Anyone had experience with availability during that period?
I'm planning US/Mexico trip next year for the whole month of Dec. Just wondering whether I should use my QFF for flight to LAX beginning of Dec or take a chance and book the fight back end of Dec/early Jan.
I am only QFF silver.

Yes it's possible. But always best to have a back up plan. I've booked 4 x J seats from SYD-LAX for Dec this year. Two on QF 11 and two on QF 107. They were all booked in Dec last year when the bookings opened.
I didn't try to book direct flights back as we are going through HKG. It might be worthwhile looking at routing to/ from HKG/NRT if you have the points as it gives more options.
