Even though today's email sates this :
Earn double points on bookings throughout all of June on any Australia partner hotel booked at qantas.com for stays until 31 March 2014. Choose from over 780 partner hotels Australia wide and earn 6 points per A$1 spent.
Offer ends: 30 June (23.59 AEST) 2013

Noticed that some (all?) of the hotels which usually award 6 points per dollar appear to be giving out 12... so a $150 per night hotel would net 1800 points per night. Could be handy for the Tassie trip. Time to good bloke myself with the good lady and organise a mini trip or two methinks..

True nice pickup I didn't realise that initially.
Does that mean that on the previous triple points sale some hotels were going for 18 points per dollar ?
Hmmmm I wonder when that triple points promotion will come around again ?

I'm tossing up whether or not to book now as travel will be in Feb and March next year.

But still, even this double points sale is not too shabby. To boost the earn further you could pay with an Amex that offers 1.5 points per dollar and bonus points for any spend on QF website (1 point per $A1) and we in business :cool::lol:

Noticed more emails trying to pump up QF Hotels lately - it would be good to see them revitalise this programme.

What hotels normally pay 6 points per $, generally it's 3 unless its part of another promo?

Given both promos say not to be used with any other offer I would be taking screenshots of the points quote.

markis10 - there's a few. When you select a city (eg Hobart), and sort the results by QFF points - the first 4 hotels displays the price eg. $150 per night - gain 1800 QFF points. Just an example. There are a few hotels in most cities which normally pay 6 points per $.

Hi markis,

Login to your frequent flyer home page and then click the drop down menu across the top "Book" then click "Hotels".
Once on the hotels page scroll a third of the way down and you'll see four icons. Starting from the left they are titled "Luxury at its best"... "Accor Free night mega sale".... etc.
Click the right-most icon titled "Double points".
That should bring you to a page with 63 hotels. All of these hotels are flagged as "bonus points". There is no mention of 12 points per dollar but if you do the calculations for ANY of the hotels on this page it does actually convert to 12 points/$.

For example the first hotel starting on the top left says... Cairns Park Regis City Quays... 2 nights min $248.. earn 2976 Qantas frequent flyer points. Melbourne Grand Hyatt a few rows down same deal.. 1 night min $255... earn 3060 Qantas frequent flyer points, etc, etc. Like I said all hotels on this page seem to be 12 points per $.

Will book 3 nights in Fremantle, however it has two choices but less points on one, why is that?.

Most of the hotels I checked had two options as well; you could either go for the double points promotion or you could not.
Not sure why that's the case but I know which offer I will be choosing...

Booking direct can get as Rydges member $150 a night.

Still get the extra QFF points?

I know there are plenty of hotels showing 12pts per dollar, my point is no hotel "normally" pays 6 points per dollar, there are two promotions, one for double points for Rydges etc and one for double on all points eligible hotels, both promos say they cannot be used with any other promo, so I suspect its a mistake, hence the suggestion you take a screenshot when booking to make sure you have the proof given the terms and conditions:

Double points (6 points per AUD$1 spent on the room rate only)

Ah ok cheers will do, thanks for the info. I was not aware of the Rydges promotion.

Wife just informed me she booked that Freeo Rydges Hotel yesterday, as a member it was $150 a night and includes breakfast!.

I guess the points offer is only good if booked via Qantas?.

Update: just added extra night, now 3 nights, booked direct with Hotel with free breakfast daily and one dinner, was $150 1st 2 nights and $107 last night, so $407 all up, they also added my QFF No. to the booking, be interesting to see how many points I get.

Thanks for the thread - have canned my booking at the Mercure and gone for the Vibe Savoy in Melbourne instead. 4,700 points is too hard to say no to.
