Re: Qantas Introduces Select on Q-Eat (Trial)

I received my QFF membership statement in the mail today and there was this:
Select on Q - Eat

Qantas Business customers travelling on flights from Singapore to Australia, and between Australia and London or Dubai can now pre-order their choice of meal prior to their flight using Select on Q-Eat. Through Select on Q-Eat, customers can also enjoy access to exclusive menu options.

Visit qantas.com for more details.

Well these pages do not show anything other than ex LAX to OZ flights as I post:
Qantas | Select on Q - Eat
You're the reason we fly | Qantas

Qantas has announced an extension of Select on Q-Eat, allowing Business customers travelling internationally to pre-order their Neil Perry Rockpool-designed meal prior to flying.
From tomorrow (for flights departing 23 May 2013), Qantas will extend Select on Q-Eat to flights from Singapore to Australia and flights between Australia, London and Dubai.
The extension is a result of the successful trial of Select on Q-Eat on our flights from Los Angeles to Australia which launched in September 2012 and on flights from Dallas to Brisbane in December 2012.
Select on Q-Eat allows Business customers to pre-order their meal prior to flying and gives customers more choice, including an additional dish available as an online exclusive on selected routes. Select on Q-Eat complements the International Business Class sleep service by giving customers more control over their journey and the ability to maximise their sleep on board. Customers can also advise via Select on Q–Eat if they would like to skip the meal service, so cabin crew know they want to go to sleep straightaway. A range of refreshment options will continue to be available at any time throughout the flight.
This follows the announcement that Qantas domestic Business customers will now experience an international standard a la carte menu on all flights from the East Coast of Australia to Perth, giving customers more choice, flexibility and offering a restaurant-style experience in the sky.
Select on Q-Eat will continue to be progressively introduced across the international network.
Select on Q-Eat is now available on the following

  • Singapore to Australia
  • Between Australia, London and
  • Los Angeles to Australia
  • Dallas – Brisbane

Business customers can pre-select their meal between seven days and 12 hours prior to departure via ‘Manage Your Booking’ at qantas.com.

I would have thought they would roll out out on other routes as well. If they can do outbound to SIN and DXB you think they'd do the same to LAX and DFW.

Its probably down to contracts with the caters, its a lot more work involved than normal for them.

Still not active to book for other than west bound TransPac flights.

However it is interesting it is not advertised as being available ex Australia as yet.

The press release does say from tomorrow for flights departing 23/5 which reads to me that 22/5 is when the functionality is turned on.

Great news and I am looking forward to seeing it ex-Aus later in the year hopefully. It might influence whether boygr's meal is swapped to adult rather than kids meal...

No functionality currently for QF94 (LAX-MEL) on the 4th July - will recheck in the next day or so.

Bring on HKG flights!

Great service improvement.

Am I sure, others like myself, whom reside Perth, struggle with all the wonderful QF enhancements when we only have 1 international flight ex PER each day!

Isn't the one international flight per day an enhancement in itself?

You're quite right ;)

My observations:

MEL/LAX 9th June - Q Eat Not available (as flight is ex-AUS)
LAX/MEL 4th July - Q Eat Available

MEL/DXB/LHR//MAD/DXB/MEL - August/Sept - Q Eat Available

Slightly O/T:

Chauffer drive for MEL/LAX not available (does not commence until 1st July for US trips)
LAX/MEL on 4th July not coming up as an option (guessing I will have to wait until > 1st July)

August/Sept MEL/DXB/LHR//MAD/DXB/MEL Chauffer Drive available to book.
