Does anyone have experience on bringing in booze from CHC, arriving in SYD and connecting to a international domestic leg?

What flight is SYD-MEL? UA ? JQ?

In any case, no can do!

You need to pass transit security at SYD T1 where LAGs rules are enforced.

JQ, transiting if it makes any differemce?

as serfty says - if you are passing through international security then LAG is enforced. You can only get around it by connecting to a flight leaving form the domestic terminal (or, if there was sufficient time, to 'land' yourself at the first port of entry, claim your bags, pack the liquids, and then go through as a domestic pax)

Nothing to stop you buying it at MEL. Not as cheap as CHC, but still DF.

Edit: I'm now not so sure about the above statement, which may be incorrect. Apologies if so.
