Is it me or is it very similar to the 787 in the nose area:

FRENCH aerospace giant Airbus has offered a sneak preview of its latest long-haul carrier, the A350, rolling out a first model in front of hundreds of staff at its assembly plant in south-western France. Reporters and photographers were not invited to the event near the city of Toulouse, but still got a brief glimpse of the blue-tailed aircraft from outside the fenced-off area, as it rolled out from the paint shop.
The A350-900 model is due for its first take-off this summer, with the first deliveries to airlines scheduled at the end of 2014.

Very similar to the 787 - will be hard to tell apart from a distance

Except for the nose, if I had just seen the back half I would have thought it was an A330-300 :D

The wings will be the giveaway. The 787 wings look substantially different to those (well, i've only been on/seen the 787 but the lack of a defined winglet like the A350 makes it different).

Yes, I'd seen that photo linked to on another website....

Yes, although from certain angles the winglet is not as obvious.

The 787 has quite significant wing "curve" upwards in flight - so will be interesting to see how much of a factor this is for the 350 too.

I agree. I would look at the winglets and the engine covers (787 has that nice zig zag pattern on the trailing edge).

Also just noticed that the very end of the fuselage the 787 has a nice steel cone vs the 350 which seems to have had its cone tip snipped off.

I think that I will have the same problem. Hopefully the 350 will always keep its 'sun glasses' on.

Is that all models, or only ones with certain engines?

I think that its a feature of all engines. I'm pretty sure that I haven't seen a 787 engine without the zig zag pattern.

I believe that its a feature that reduces engine noise.

They are called chevrons and feature on both Rolls and GE versions as well as on the 748!

Yes I was aware that they are also on the 748.

Sure, Chevrons sound cooler and more technical than my 'zig zag thingies' name

Thanks for clarifying.

Yes, very similar. I personally would go for the one without the batteries on fire! ;)
