I was watching an episode of Border Security the other day and I was dumb founded on why these people get caught without a good back story (alibi) to back them up. I am waiting on the day for someone to say, "I am doing a status run to get me to Platinum"

Now that has to be a new third world answer...:)

I said something like that when I was questioned by an immigration officer in Stockholm when they asked why I was only there for the day. I think they thought I was a bit weird but let me through anyway.

When I tried to explain why I was doing a same day turnaround in Fiji the Immigration officer told me I must earn too much money. I replied that I was a really good saver :).

i did (partly) a syd-PQQ-SYD-CFS-SYD-TMW-SYD and had the same crew for the first 3 legs, and they were very interested why i kept following them around. I told them i was doing a status run, and she didn't seem to know what that was. (unfortunately plane broke down at CFS, so i missed the rest of the flights)

"Will we be seeing you again today Mr Ewing?" - said the crew after three flights in a row on my first (and only to date) status run :)

I haven't watched Border Security for ages but it's amusing sometimes. I have seen the film crew for it a few times looking exceptionally bored waiting for something to happen!

It breaks me up.... the UK version the other night had a bloke who was trying to convince them that 18,000 cigarettes where for personal consumption...:D

When we returned from our 6 weeks in Africa last Friday at SYD I had declared my 4 little baskets so I was at the counter paying the $ 30 for the fumigation, but there were two other people there both paying the duty on waaaaaay too many cigarettes !!!! not looking to happy about it either ! :D ha

i love the question I had on one trip was are you going to stay here for more than a day.

I had done Aust to SIN stayed the night.

SIN to MNL stayed a few days.

MNL to HKG stayed the day/night.

HKG to MNL stayed the day/night

MNL to SIN stayed the day.

Had a few questions.

Have a nice day sir.

Tourism Australia needs to work on an ad that says "Australia - yes, we do have food!"

I laughed at a recent episode where the Customs people were looking for a pair of expensive ear rings a woman had claimed the TRS and they suspected she was bringing them back into Australia.

They searched her bags and spent a lot of time going through everything including x-raying the bags. Then, finally, they looked at her ears and she was wearing them! D'oh!!

She repaid the refund, >$20,000 and copped a fine.

I flew into Heathrow from four different directions in April.

And a couple of times immigration people have gotten more than they bargained for when they casually ask, where are you going next?

I love that Borderline Security show.

Interesting... never seen this happen before, although aware it is simple to track.

When questioned at SIN about my 4am turnaround back to HKG on UA they were nonplussed when I stated it was a mileage run - they "see it all the time with the Japanese" apparently!

Never asked once at MNL on same flight turnarounds at transit the routine is usually: 1. study boarding pass 2. slight surprise at the turnaround 3. stamp BP 4. direct to sleeping transit x-ray guard to go back to departures!

Hey for him and his wife, that's only 2 packs of 25 a day for a year !

A good example recently from the Canadian version:

CBP: Why did you come to Canadia?
Guy: To see nature.
CBP: Such as?
Guy: Fresh air.

I'll often tweet (@erkpod) using the #bordersecurity hashtag while watching the show. There's some sad stories & some comedic gold.

I would have never thought to look there! *sarcasm*
