So on the takeoff roll aboard a VA flight to SYD ahead of an early morning flight to AKL and it occurs to me that I have in fact forgotten to grab my passport!!

Oh well - too late at this point and can't do anything until I landed in SYD and had some Internet access.....

Some canceling of flights - oh well.....

On the upside I found JQ11 to OOL tomorrow morning - I'm sure that will cheer me up.

Perhaps I can find some friends on the Gold Coast to lunch with (and perhaps scam a ride up to BNE for Bundy Bear's drinks).

I'm guessing I'm not the first to leave my passport at home ;)

Leaving my passport at home is my one fear .
I hope you didn't have prepaid accommodation in NZ?

Well if dfcatch was planning to be in Brisbane tomorrow night didn't look like he was planning on staying in NZ for long.

There but for the grace of God...I'm sure we all have done similar things!
Not done, but have had nightmares about similar things!

Sometime last year on a domestic 'run' I was asked why I had bought my passport with me. I was a little taken aback, but after thinking, my answer was - I always travel with it (and other things) and I'm not going to change.

Earlier this year I threw my baggie with < 100 Ml toiletries into my backpack without even thinking.

:(:oops:My biggest fear. I am responsible for the whole families passports (3) when we are travelling, so I tend to pack them in my bag the night before. I have this little ritual once we are in the the taxi and it starts driving out of our driveway I will check my bag and make sure mobile, purse, passports are in there...My motto is the rest that I might have forgotten can be bought.

Hope you're able to get a refund on your accomodation in AKL.

IIRC correctly there was some player South Melbourne Hellas during the day of the NSL, who was meant to go to NZ for a game but forgot to renew his passport.

I did it quite a few years ago when going to NZ from Cairns too. I had in the dark recesses of my mind that NZ was not really a foreign country :( I realised in the domestic check-in line so got a taxi home to grab it but still missed the domestic flight to Sydney. Those were the days when there were more than 2 QF flights a day to Sydney from Cairns so I still made the international flight. No lounge time though and a lesson learned :(

I'll be in Southport around 1300 and am planning to head to BNE at some stage, but can't drive at the moment :(

Hmmm, if your worst fear is leaving your passport at home i don't think your using your imagination enough.. ;)

But yes, having left the hostel in Dubrovnik last year at the bus station about to catch the bus up to Split i thought i might have left my passport behind, some frantic ripping of stuff out of my bag (which didn't help that i had locked the main compartment up and then proceeded to lose the key to the padlock a few days earlier) But thankfully found it as about the last thing i pulled out just before i had to go jump on the bus!!!

Coming back home i had an overnight in BKK and had booked a hotel close to the airport for the night, but on walking out of arrivals and looking for the pick up guy's sign with my name on it i realised i had booked it for the night before!?!?! :(

I couldn't find my passport once and had to delay leaving by a day - no drama except I was travelling Intl with my boss :oops:

Travelling with the family (me, wife and boygr) I have to remember six passports...

can you get airside without passport?

left ours at home once and only noticed at check-in, had to go back home to get them, what an immense waste of Flounge time, never again :D

SWMBO recently left our travel wallet on the plane :/ lucky we just arrived in Aus. We were not allowed back on the plane and the flight crew had to retrieve it.

That was the first time she was in charge...

Well the first and last time.

Right!!!

Passport located!! :)

Had a small panic attack last night when I found it wasn't where it should have been (which is why it got forgotten), but then found I had placed in another folder on my recent return from the States.

I must have been distracted in the F lounge and got lazy and just threw it in a random folder ;)

Oh - and passport is already in the carry-on bag ready for next week :)
