Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Property: Hilton Adelaide
Date: 22 - 24 Mar March
Booked: Twin Guest Room
Received: King Junior Suite 1st Night, Double Deluxe 2nd Night.

I only booked one night and decided to stay another however there where no suites available on the second night.
We were allowed exec lounge access on the second night even though our room wasn't entitled to it.
Bottles of water, card from GM and a bottle of wine. Turndown with chocolates.

Our meals were great in the restaurant however the service was quite slow.

Efficient, friendly check-in. 2 x bottles water in room.

We missed evening drinks as we attended the last Melbourne show of Jersey Boys.

Efficient, friendly check-in. Handwritten note up in the room from the Hotel Manager, voucher for a drink in any of the bars/restaurants at the hotel, 2 x bottles water in room, 1x 187ml bottle of wine, 2 small chocolates, a platter plate with Welcome to Hilton Sheffield spelled in chocolate with some strawberry/marshmallow skewers and dipping chocolate. Asked why no upgrade (checked before arrival) and was told full in the next room type up. Have just been online and checked again, and definitely still for sale. Will just give feedback once I checkout, not worth following up and the room I have is decent enough anyway. Think the next one up only has an extra 3m². A nice room, bathroom is a bit dated but the room looks decent enough and has a choice of either Wifi or LAN cable for the internet.

What can I say really?
Second stay at this hotel and second suite upgrade :) Hotel fully booked due to conference. My reservation was showing the Suite Upgrade a few days ago. Checked in at Exec Lounge earlier and offered an exec King Harbour or to wait until 6pm for the suite. Not a difficult decision. Given welcome drink and Exec Lounge Key until room ready. I have also secured a 3pm check-out tomorrow. This hotel really knows how to look after their guests. I rang housekeeping earlier to ask for smaller slippers and a range of sizes was brought to the suite less than 5 minutes later.ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1364299558.687189.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1364299591.653826.jpg

Wow! That's one hell of an upgrade, and much better than I achieved. Well done!

I would go back to the Conrad HK as a Diamond even though I didn't get an upgrade to even an Executive Room on the weekend I was there. The hotel is truly wonderful and the Executive Lounge Staff and the Sunday breakfasts make up for everything!

I totally agree with you, a few Aussie properties could do with adopting some of the customer service practices ;)

I miss the days when the Conrad HK was on offer at my former companies corporate rates (the regional office was in pacific place), it was very popular back then despite it being one if many hotels on offer.

Three stays in Malaysia leading up to F1 Grand Prix.
All as Diamond (which I lose in a few days :-( )

Hilton Kuching
Checked in at midnight and upgraded to a high floor corner suite.
Great Executive Lounge with lovely river views

Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Told given upgrade to Deluxe Plus, but on a very low floor.
Nice room but didn't seem like much of an upgrade although note this hotel as a bunch of room types
Lobby presently undergoing substantial refurbishment
Exec Lounge was good, particularly the live quartet, but the space felt a bit pokey

Doubletree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Upgraded to a high floor suite (Room xx09)
Brilliant selection of cananpes on offer at Exec Lounge (better than Hilton KL)

Not a very impressive upgrade obviously, but an otherwise very good hotel.
Excellent service all the time. All day bar in the executive lounge, which like most buffets/constant consumption offers, the novelty wears off as to drink all day you'd have to sit there all day. But it's nice to pop in for an afternoon beer, or not have to make your plans suit the coughtail hour.

This is my third stay at this hotel. Won't stay again. An executive room is not an upgrade for a diamond. Would have been nice for at least a corner room.
In room amenities are some no-name rubbish. Asked for Aromatherapy Associates and they delivered the Tara Smith - no biggie.
Plenty of water topped up twice daily is nice.
In room check-in is just weird. But it's positive they replaced those silly large black leather-esque key cards with normal plastic credit card sized keys.
Executive lounge service is slow. nothing self serve which is a pain.
I look forward to Hilton Sukumvit opening.

arrived late at night from sydney and informed we had been 'upgraded' to a corner room overlooking the marina. was a little disappointed as had hoped for lounge floor. even more disappointed when no water in room (welcome note and a block of local chocolate waiting) Over the next few days really appreciated the fact we had indeed been upgraded from the basic room and enjoyed the sun coming in from a second side/wall and getting to watch the boats leave for GBR every day. water appeared/ was replenished daily after the first night.

breakfast every morning in hanuman downstairs was plentiful if generic - everything seemed to be out of frozen packets (e.g. dim sum, sausages, muffins etc) which was a bit surprising given we had an enjoyable dinner when it turned into an asian restaurant at night.

tour desk very helpful, and appreciated the tip to add the tour bookings to the room allowing me to earn additional points (at the 1.5% surcharge which i was ok with)

Princess Fiona, where does it show on the reservation that an upgrade has been issued? I've received plenty of upgrades but never noticed anything prior to checkin.

Open your on-line reservation and the room type will be displayed. Up until a day or so before the stay, it will usually show the room type you booked. Within about 24 hours of the stay, it offens changes to show the proposed upgrade (which can still change).

Thanks. Will pay more attention to the reservations now!

For the first time ever, mine is actually showing something different (King Guest Room -> King Deluxe Room w/ Terrace). Let's see in a few hours when I check-in whether it sticks.

No recognition of HH Gold at check-in. When I prompted the person checking in he then realised I was Gold. Got up to the room...... got absolute nothing. This was in stark contrast to my last stay here on the same room category where I received a nice chocolate/strawberry/marshmallow platter, 2 free bottles of water, 1 free bottle of wine (187ml). Internet didn't work (e.g. last time I was able to login with my room number and surname). As it was late I thought I'd leave it to the morning. I then checked with reception, who gave me a code to use. Didn't work. They then gave me another to try (said they weren't sure as the month had just turned...), didn't work. By this stage I was a little angry and my plan to work from the hotel for the morning changed to me having to head into the office early which was not ideal. Sent feedback via e-mail but nothing received still almost a week on.

For the first time this year (and maybe 2nd or 3rd time in about 10 stays) I received an upgrade unprompted! Looks like the conversation I had with the Front Desk Manager last week may have jogged their memory.... anyway, as it was Tuesday night I was invited to the weekly VIP drinks (which I was told had been running for some time.. yet oddly I never got an invite as a Gold for any of my stays last year!). Didn't go though as had work to do. Received all the other usual bennies including breakfast AND the 1,000 points.

Great stay from a very welcoming reception. My wife and I are on our 'proper' honeymoon and upon check-in Mrs Flashware was given a nice bunch of white & red roses. A platter of Turkish sweets and fruit platter were brought up to the room, along with a bottle of wine (which we rejected in favour of a sparkling water instead). All in all, a nice looking hotel in an interesting area of town, a few tram stops away from the action.

Excellent valet and check-in experience. I do really like this hotel and the suite is awesome. The whole end of the bldg on the 40th floor. The view is from Botany Bay to the Heads, to the Bridge depending on where abouts I stand. A pity I'm all alone :(

New card in mail today. ... Silver grr.
Had tried ordering a new one on 1 April when my status was still higher...
