Keeping track of all your flights....

I also use BA97 no graphs or maps but do like the main calendar and flight diary

Thanks to everyone for all your thoughts and answers to my initial question.

It took me a while to get started....but I have, on flight diary. Yes it does seem a bit labourous. I haven't kept all my boarding passes either, so I'm trying to read the stamps out of my passport. As for the domestic flights....they may be a stab in the dark, but I just know that I go between Melbourne and Brisbane most months to visit family. Anyway, I'm hoping to get most of it there, and then maybe switch to another site as someone else mentioned.
so, thanks again, and merry christmas to all on AFF.

I started up using OpenFlights last year. Firstly because I think it looks better... but also because I'm a strong supporter of open source/open data etc. and this is both of those.

You can export and then import into FlightMemory/Flight Diary etc. I believe, if you want to use the visualisations that the other site give you.

I can't put a link in here because I haven't made enough posts. I'll come back and add it when I can!

Can now add links ... so here's my OpenFlights link :)

Nowhere near as well travelled as most AFF members, sadly!

Whats with my high ratio of Distance/flights?

Clearly I'm not landing or taking off nearly enough (one would hope those two numbers are the same)

Another fan of OpenFlights

Runs really well and has some nice tools.

I noticed that! I have a massive amount of HBA/LST to MEL/SYD flights (for almost every other destination we route through one of these cities!) which would account for the huge number of short flights. It would also be why it shows MEL as my most visited airport - it counts the arrival and departure as two visits.

After all these years, I did not know that. I use fligt memory...I assume we can import and export. Will check it out.

Looks good, a bit of a pain to upload from flight memory, but worth having a go at.

For those of us who are already using OpenFlights, whats the recommendation?

Some (all?) of the premium features of Open Flights are free in the AFF version, so if you want private details for example, you wouldn't need to pay another company.

Other than that though, integration is about the same right now, perhaps that will change in the future though?

Sam is correct AFF Flight Tracker is equivalent to the Premium version of OpenFlights. Currently integration is limited to sharing the AFF userid and the (optional) use the the Signature Badge for AFF GOLD members. But we do have plans for further "enhancements" depending on how popular this feature becomes. So watch this space... :)

As I am interested in what else you can do, I have switched to using it... though think you might like to re-think the word enhancement ;)

Hmm, I just exported my data from OpenFlights and tried to import it directly into AFF Flight Tracker. Being the same software I thought it would be seamless, but it had a couple of parse errors:

(1) Some dates did not import. On further investigation, it seems to be an issue with US/International date format - all the dates which worked were on the 1st-12th of the month.
(2) All the trip IDs show as errors, with the message at the bottom: "Your flight data includes trip IDs which are either undefined or do not belong to you. Please check the trip IDs." As I can't find any information about the trips in the csv, this makes sense, but I would have thought that OpenFlights would export ALL the data, or the AFFFT would either ignore or recreate the trip information.
