Hi guys,

Looking for a high earning SC run that will yield 280SC minimum leaving from melb.
Domestic is preferred as I don't want to have to stay a night somewhere.

The best I found flying J was MEL-ADL-DRW-BNE-SYD-MEL which I can do on the same day costs $2,386 and yields bang on 280SCs.

Surely there must be something better ?

Happy to stay a night somewhere if it can either get me:
A. Substantially more SCs, or
B. The dollar amount is considerably less in total.

Don't really want to use points.

Looking forward to some alternative suggestions !

Thanks

Niz

Are you dead set against using points? The only value way to earn SC's is using JASA's to certain destinations. Failing that, it's either in Asia (so-so value) or the USA (excellent SC per $ value) for better earnings.

Your current routing has a $8.52 per status credit rate, which is not great but not terrible. It's about average.

The QFF scheme is not designed to be cheap to earn SC's on its home turf unfortunately.

Hi Drebles,

Cheers for responding. Ok I suppose I can consider points.
But the thing is I don't have many after I spent 120k a couple of months ago.

I've got about 45,000.
Not sure that will get me anywhere ?

Haha and yes I know about the USA.
I'll be there in June and have come up with a route which will net me 510 SCs with a spend of US$1,477.. which compared to some other efforts on here is actually not so impressive...

Why do you want to spend so much money just to achieve a higher status?! If someone offered me QF WP for $2,386 I would say no thank you!!

Lol valid point but I have a Qantas credit voucher for $1798 and I have already booked and paid for all my travel in the next few months.
So might as well make the most out of it from a SC perspective.

Found another similar fare but much cheaper.

MEL-ADL-DRW-BNE-MEL

260SCs

But only $1,890 so $7.27 per SC

I'm getting better at this

MEL-DRW-BNE-TSV-BNE-MEL

$2109 + 40,000 points

340 Scs

But requires one night in TSV... hmmmm...

Hi Nizar,
I was about to post my own status run post...but....

Its a bit more time intensive, in that you will need 2 separate days....and my suggestion is from SYD, but I think with a little hunting, you can find similar fares from MEL

My idea...

My dates only as an EG......2/5 SYD-AKL-SYD $1101 (Business saver.....on sale NOW)
My dates only as an EG......16/05 SYD-AKL-SYD $1151 (Business saver.....on sale NOW)
Total $2251 for 320SC at $7.04 / SC
Each can be done same day, but to do both you need 2 separate days.

I'm going to hijack your thread instead of doing my own....as well as any thoughts on the above for Nizar......

I am 350SC away from Platinum. It is unlikely in the next few years I will be this close. The best I can source without spending points for which I now have very little is $2687 for flights and $168 for parking (total $2855) netting 350SC and Platinum until May 2014, plus 17358 QFF pts (14000 from flights, plus 3358 from the CC earn). It will take 3 separate days as I cannot overnight on any dates up till my anniversary of May 31, so very restricted. Any thoughts? Crazy....interesting but not worth it....or to hell with it (just do it)??

Sorry to divert your thread Nizar....

Hi Banger,

You're more than welcome to post your ideas here.
To be honest I'm sort of on the same boat. I'm probably not going to get this close to Gold/Plat ever again lol so might as well go for it this year.

I saw that SYD-AKL business Saver deal a few days ago. I like it.
$2251 for 320 SCs is nice.
Especially as I need to go to Syd anyway.

We should set up a thread here about good Business Saver fares.

What do you guys mean ?
As in travel on LAN to some South American countries ?
Do LAN flights get full points and SCs like AA does ?

Travel LAN Sydney - AKL return about $750 return business gives you 160 SC. LAN you earn normal points but won't receive a status bonus and you will received business status credits.

First do a MEL-SYD-OOL return red edeal cash fare for 40 status credits and earn 4,000 points for less then $300. You could also pay apx $180 more for flexi fares and get 80 SCs.

Adding those points to the 45,000 you already have you can do a JASA MEL-SYD-ASP return for 48,000 points and apx $300 and earn 240 status credits.

So all up you'll get the 280 credits for apx $600

Cheers Rob !
It does seem like JASA's offer the best value option.

Anytime!

That is the root I'm half way through at the moment to make WP for the first time ever!

You can also do a MEL-ADL-ASP JASA run (200 SC) if via SYD doesn't have the dates you want for the same cost. However you'll need to do a flexi-fare MEL-SYD-OOL run (80 SC) for the point difference.

I might have missed the finer points....if I check a Mel-Syd-Ool 1 way I get approx $214 red-e or $478 Flexi using multi city booking?

Just use the one way option not multicity

Thanks! I was sure when I tried the normal method it reported Mel-OOL it was a Jetstar only route....but just tried it again and right you are :) I must have used wrong city pair before...actually i know why I got it wrong....i was using the points calculator and got the following!!
