I bought six bottles of Taittinger NV from epiQure recently, but I think I prefer the Piper..

Wine is subjective. Try the Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blanc, but in a slightly different price bracket to the NV ;) I have tasty 2000 awaiting a special occasion in the next 15 years...

Vintage champagne is out of my budget, unfortunately. Will just have to rely on the 'specials' they have from time-to-time in the F lounges - although I have never seen Vintage champagne in the lounges.

I'm certain there is vintage in the SYD F lounge. Certainly is onboard in F.

I like the Taittinger NV too, but I'm guessing you like something sweeter? I also don't like the Veuve Clicquot much. GH Mumm Cordon Rouge is an underrated drop.

I hope you're right about the F lounges, because I've never seen any vintage champagnes in the MEL or SYD F lounges in the 5 or 6 times I've been there in the past year.

If someone could shed more light that would be great!

Is that what QF have in F? I didnt actually like the QF F Champagne on QF127 to HKG - thought it smelled earthly.

I think they had the 2002 as late as early Jan, not sure about now, but will find out next week.

Earthly? Interesting adjective for champagne ;) you prefer the extra-terrestrial varietals? haha

Damn autocorrect ;)

The blanc de blanc (or white from white) is 100% Chardonnay, unlike most champagne being a blend of Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.

The Chardonnay is the earthier of those which might be why you found it so. 5% is aged in new French oak, which gives it a strong flavour. Vintages also have less sugar typically.

I spent a couple of weeks in the champagne region around Reims, & Epernay and thoroughly recommend it!

No Vintage in the F lounges. There's the regular Taittinger (not even the Cuvee Prestige!), Veuve and Delamot I think were the offerings on Tuesday (in MEL), and SYD had the same last week.

You are probably right. Unless they open a bottle especially for actual F pax ;).

They certainly had the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blanc onboard at Christmas time, a 2002 I think.

Maybe I should press the point in the Flounge week after next when travelling in F. Could result in an enhancement in the non-QF sense of the word ;)

Doubt that as there aren't a lot of staff around in the food & drinks area... in fact it's rare to see one!

We have four days in the area on this year's summer holiday agenda and I can't wait for it! :p

Back to topic- yes, the so-called Flounge in LAX is absolute horror but so is LAX as a whole in my opinion. Saying that- the incredibly stressed staff has always been excellent on my recent visits. A helpful soul even organized me some toothpicks (which QF for some reason never stock on their planes ) after a rather nasty run-in with the lounge's beef choice of the day

Any updates when the j and f one world lounges at lax will open? I note that the new star lounge has opened up.

On the topic of vintage champagne in the SYD F Lounge, I believe they have a selection of wines for high value customers that they can pull out if and when needed. I can actually think of another QF facility with vintage actually ;)

Random bump sorry. Anyone know if I'll be able to get in the shared lounge with a complimentary qantas club pass before qf94? Thanks
