Hi,

I have Qantas Premium Economy (PE) seats booked for the end of March from MEL-LAX-JFK/JFK-LAX-MEL and the booking on the Qantas website shows as PE all the way, including the "internal" flights between LAX and JFK (QF107/108).

The question is, are my seats on QF107/108 PE class, because my travel agent says "no", however the Qantas website says "yes".

I am stopping over in LA for a few days, but the QF107/108 flights are still treated as international flights, I assume (and still appear as PE with stopover dates when booking via the Qantas website).

As an aside, if for some crazy reason I choose American Airlines for the LAX-JFK leg on the Qantas website, it definitely shows as an economy seat.

Thanks in advance for your help.

if you do online seat selection on QF107 can you see 2 4 2 seating? If yes, you are looking at premium economy

Yep, seems to be a travel agent stuff up. They originally confirmed that I had seats 37D, 37E, 37F on the LAX-JFK (and back) legs, which according to Qantas seat maps are in PE.

I just rang Qantas to confirm, and I they said I was originally booked on PE on the LAX-JFK legs, but not any more, and there are no PE seats left! So what to do? Obviously push the issue with my travel agent, because I don't think I'm getting what I originally paid for, but what can they do?

That is not good, if you paid for PE you should get PE. What date are you travelling from LAX to JFK? Are you flexible in the dates?

No, not flexible at all. ADL-MEL-LAX 30 MAR, LAX-JFK 4 APR, JFK-LAX-MEL 12 APR. All accommodation, tours etc, booked and paid for. I have travel insurance of course, but the point is that I booked and paid for PE. If they offer a refund for me to go Y, that's not good enough as far as I'm concerned.

I will know tomorrow.

I would call QF back and ask them to look at your pnr history as they would be able to tell you when any changes were made to the LAX/JFK/LAX flights from PE to Y.

They can also tell you if the change was instigated by QF or if it was the TA who changed it because every time your booking is modified ie pnr retrieved & a flight, meal, seat booked/cancelled etc it will have the date & time in GMT the action occurred.

Have you got a copy of your eticket itin/receipt as that would show you what class the LAX/JFK/LAX flights were ticketed in originally. What about a written quote from the TA? Does it show the quoted price of the ticket as being PE all the way to JFK?

Get these details first before you speak to the TA.

I just had a look and it appears that premium economy is definitely fully available on the 4th from LAX to JFK and also on the return on the 12th

What a comedy of errors. I looked up flight information on expertflyer.com, and lo and behold, there were still plenty of seats available. Sent the information the the travel agent, and they rang and confirmed PE seats within the hour.

Really, what's the point of going to a TA when you have to do most of the work yourself? :)

None, nix, nada. I'm still waiting for 2 consultants in the same office of a major chain to call me back for a RTW price.
Meanwhile, I have booked, paid and am now looking for cars and rooms. Which they won't get commission on.

I would still take ozbeachbabes advice and find out from Qantas what actually happened - its either a QF stuffup or a TA stuffup. And there is nothing to prevent the same exact thing happening again in the future, so how would you feel if it did happen again on the 29th March?
