New Lounge in CBR

I fly out of CBR on the 11th of march I hoping for the new lounge to be open. How will the transition happen as the old building needs to go fairly quickly for new apron to be opened.

I'm beginning to question if it will open in time...the CBR airport webcam is still showing that a lot of work needs to be done in but a few weeks - tarmac laying, installation of aerobridges etc.

Yep, tarmac is still a big hole in the ground. Although the lounge angel did tell me recently that the construction crews are now working 24/7 to get it completed in time.

Flying out of CBR yesterday I observed 2 out of the 5 gates have been installed but not the aerobridges. A peek through the faux wall shows a lot of lighting needs to be completed and the terminal does not look ready yet.

Is it looking similarish to the QF section? (if it were to not have lighting etc. of course). And I believe some have seen pics of the new Lounge...does it look pretty much like the BNE and MEL Lounges, or are there some differences..?

I saw 1 pic and it looked the same as BNE and MEL but smaller.

Smaller? Interesting choice.
Flying QF... practically every pax comes from one of the three large lounges.

I saw one pic in an email (which wasn't addressed to me)!

I wasn't in the best position to get out a tape measure to check. Lounges look large, photos look small. Reality may prove me wrong.

i am flying out this weekend again and will peek through the faux wall one more time. Hopefully something nice can be seen. :)

Come to think of it, it does look like an exact replica of the QF section, just that there is a central concourse that separates both sides.

Aerobridges are installed on 2 gates now. Still a while to go before it's all finished, but new atrium, lounge and Virgin check in desks will all be open next week.

The rep from CBR Airport told me that the opening for Virgin Lounge and majority of terminal area is confirmed for next Wednesday (though didn't specify what 'majority' meant). A grand opening of the whole shebang will happen later in the year. By the way the email was worded, it sounded like gates will be opened...but I know this seems unlikely at this stage...

For sure! I'll post some details closer to Wednesday as to where you'll be able to find updates.

Thanks Liam. We're there in a fortnight, so I'd like to know what it's like beforehand!

It didn't appear ready for next week on my visit yesterday. But the new terminal overall is really attractive.

Some good photos, but are there any recent ones? It doesn't look anywhere near finished going by those.
