Re lounge access, I can't see QC members getting access when on an EK flight. While on a QF code yes, but EK code, i doubt it.

I'd probably say that when traveling between Australia and Europe / Africa on a QF code lounge access would be as it is now. i.e WP in F, SG and QC in J

If it is similar to the AA alliance then they should get access to both QF and EK lounges.

The difference there is that AA is in oneworld as well. QF and EK have already said that you can use an EK or QF lounge in ports where both exist. i.e In SYD an F pax could use the QF or EK lounge

The arrangement with AA is not OW related - yes they are in OW but QP access to the AC is a specific arrangement between AA and QF.

I think it would make no difference whether a QF or EK flight number.

Lounge Access

17. If I choose to fly with Emirates from Australia to Dubai, can I still use the Qantas lounge at my departing airport in Australia?
Yes. If your class of travel or Frequent Flyer status gives you lounge access and both lounges are available, you will be welcome in either the Qantas or Emirates Lounge.
18. As a Qantas Club member will I have access to Emirates lounges worldwide?
If you are travelling on Qantas, your lounge access will remain unchanged. If you are flying with Emirates you will have access to the Emirates lounge in Dubai.
19. As a Qantas Frequent Flyer will I still be able to use the Australian domestic lounges if I am connecting from an Emirates international flight?
Yes. Your Domestic Lounge access eligibility will remain unchanged for Qantas even if your journey has mixed Qantas and Emirates flights.
20. As an Emirates Skyward member travelling on the Qantas domestic network, will I have access to Qantas domestic lounges?
Only Skyward Gold members will be eligible to use the Domestic Qantas Club lounges in Australia.

TBH, I think it is a bit unfair that QF aren't giving Skyward Gold members access to the DOM J Lounge. If all the WPs around want access to EK F Lounges then shouldn't QF give a little as well?

Skyward Gold don't have F lounge access in DXB so in theory are comparable only to SG. The speculation is that EK will introduce a WP tier with F access and as such I would assume access to DOM J lounge.

I wonder if their super elite hidden tier will get CL access...

Today’s decision includes a condition that Qantas and Emirates not yet coordinate on services between Australia and New Zealand, reflecting the fact that New Zealand law does not provide for interim authorisation.

Well that's a little annoying...

A very intriguing question is one of guest access to lounges.

Currently EK Gold can only take one guest into a lounge if they are travelling first or business, so no guest access if flying economy class. Im unsure how the two airlines will accommodate this large difference. There does not appear, IMHO, significant capacity to extend guest access in EK lounges. Take AKL for example where two 380's and a 777 depart in quick succession for OZ. There wouldn't be much room to allow guests into that lounge.

Also in DXB where the airport is a complete zoo, even in the business class lounge. (First lounge though is pretty empty)....... May be different with the new concourse just opened..... Will have to wait and see........

Lot still to be communicated:

On 18) what about SG's & WP's travelling on Emirates, outside of DXB ... such as boarding EK flight in "foreign" ports (SIN, BKK, CDG, MXP etc) on EK code
On 20) What about Skywards Gold members travelling on Qantas international network (eg JFK, LAX, JNB, SCL, CGK, SIN etc...)

As an EK Gold member myself I'm not interested in what QF benefits may or may not be thrown our way. I only fly QF if I really have to and this tie up wont change that for me.

I'm more interested in how our current EK experience may be diluted. Great lounges that are not overcrowded, op ups etc. EK may well find themselves loosing a few faithful ozzie travellers to claim the golden honey pot of the Qantas Frequent Flyers!!

IO ... "Invitation Only" ... they get Flounge access at DXB

I think that they'd get access to the QF F Lounges and probably the DOM J Lounge but I highly doubt QF would let them into the CL. I say this because neither airline wants it's super elite clientele to interact with each other. Plus QF will still be accepting BA Premier customers so I think that is enough 'sharing' for QF :D

Do BA Premier/ Concord Room card holders get access to the CL, or just J/F lounges?

And likewise, do CL get into the Concorde Room?

I would look at how this is handled, to guess what EK's invitation tier will be given access to.
