Let's say Badgery's Creek did become the site for Sydney's second airport, what do people think it's IATA code could be?

My suggestions are:

WSY : Western Sydney
SYW: Sydney West
BCR: Badgerys Creek Airport

Or perhaps the Airport will be named after some important Australian.

Any other suggestions? You can check for availability here: http://www.airportguide.com

They might transfer the SYD code from Mascot then give Mascot a new code, e.g. MAS or SKS (the latter actually honoring the person of who the airport is named for).

I haven't checked airportcodes so no idea if those conflict with existing codes.

A Z, X or Q tends to solve any in-a-pinch conflicts.

All in all, a bit moot to discuss whilst there is no decision to build at Badgery's Creek.

Back on topic, if we were to name the airport after something or someone important in Australian history then I would call it IOB. Iron Ore Baby.

Sounds just right.
pity you couldn't fly BAD-Fukouka-Helsinki.

And if the Taiwanese airline Far Asian Transport ever opened an office it would be the BAD FAT office!

I realise it's a joke, but two problems there: (1) JG is not an important Australian by any stretch

Not commenting at all on her politics or success or otherwise as PM, as Australia's first female PM she is indeed an important historical figure. I would bet that for that reason alone school kids in a hundred years will know her name long after the Frasers, Hawkes, Keatings, Howards etc are relegated to trivia questions. Regardless of the intensity of day-to-day politics after the heat of current politics dies down she will be recognised by both sides and Australian history for that trail blazing and long overdue achievement.

Having said that, no, i wouldn't name the airport after her. I'm all for BAD but i'm afraid that (dubious) honour belongs to Barksdale AFB.

Lets just hope common sense prevails and this 2nd 'airport' is never built.
What's needed is to lift the curfew totally, or at very least change the hours to 12:30am - 5am.
I can't believe in this day and age and in a a modern big city like Sydney we still have a curfew!

THB - Too Hard Basket
ACW - Another Curfew Airport
NCA - No Curfew Airport

I still like BAD the best, but someone beat me to it!
