Does the CEO of Tiger actually fly Tiger metal?

Jetstar's acquisition of Tiger's CEO has got me thinking (rare for me): Does the CEO of Tiger actually fly on Tiger? Tiger don't have J class right? Does the CEO fly in Y? Or is there a secret Tiger-branded Lear jet that he/she trots around in?

I am sure he does where possible, but there is nothing to say he has to nor should other CEOs, RB has been seen on QF at times for instance.

I think it's a good thing for them to fly the competition, see what they are doing better or worse..

There is a long standing agreement within the airline industry for CEOs to be offerred F.O.C. highest class accommodation with other carriers ... they all do it.

I seem to remember hearing something about him flying BA to the UK during the grounding.

ISTR AJ was "sprung" on EK (this was before the tie-up was announced).


If you owned Coles, would you never visit Woolworths to see what they were up to? Bunnings and Masters? etc etc.

I'm sure the CEOs (and the senior execs) of all airlines fly various carriers across a 12 month period.

All airlines CEO and exec staff regularly fly on other airlines . They often have to attend meetings in cities where their own airline does not fly! Also if the their own airline schedules do not agree with meeting times etc

All reasonable points, yes. Naturally due to the sky carve-up and alliances various big-wigs are always going to be forced to fly on other metal. I was thinking more routine stuff, you know - the need to pop over to BNE or another capital. Now Tiger fly there - how is it justified that Mr/Ms Big is sitting in 1A of Q when there own jets are servicing that route?

I would think if budget carrier CEO was flying J not so much of an issue. Different market segments.
If was Y, then not so good look...

I think most would elect to take 1A on Q than fly their own airline in whY. Some even elect to go via another city so they can get 1A & 1A on Q when they could take a non-stop flight on their own airline albeit in whY.

I would think he should fly the routes his airline uses, he can test out other carriers when he needs to travel elsewhere. A CEO should be at least trying to maintain come contact with customers and what they are required to go through.

Normally I agree but TT has a very clear pitch...from A to B as cheap as possible. The experience is pretty much secondary, or would be in most peoples minds who jump on board a TT plane I think.

I flew Tiger Syd-Mel in about August 2011 (it was the week they resumed flights, cheap day trip to Sydney), the flight as you would expect was very empty. Aside from myself in row 8 there were no more than about 30 others spread throughout the cabin. In row 1 I noticed a gentleman who looked completely out of place in business attire typing away on a laptop as I walked past to to use the lav. I assume he was Tiger management returning to Melbourne. After all what other business traveler would have risked flying Tiger if he was not working for the company? Especially at that stage...

The real question is wether or not the tiger CEO would appear on the mindless tv program they have on, which is simply an advert for why never to fly them.

It will be interesting to see if it is still screened after the sale goes through.

And if so, why?
