Your chance to upgrade to Business with Qantas

I got the offer for MEL-LHR at xmas time. My flight has looked overbooked in Y for a while with FJW still at 9s. Majority of the Y seats are prob not upgradeable, so there is prob not many upgrade requests in, hence they opened it up. Trying to get points instead of opups.

I've got 80A so I will be passing on this...

I've just made all my bookings for our cooking schools in Italy in 2013 using the Earlybird sale. I'm able to request upgrades on all my flights but I've managed to score 80A&K or 71D on all four flights so I've only requested PE on one Dubai-Syd leg where I'm in 71D & travelling solo. Mr Sarvowinner is hanging around the South of France for the European summer catering some festivals and Le Mans. I on the otherhand have to return to do some banking reports and look after the corgis.

My thanks to tdogskookem for reviving this thread today. Now have my requests in for MEL-LHR and back in business for me and my other half in September.
Currently in 32JK as paid discount economy, a flat bed would be very nice indeed.

Huh, wonder if oversold Y and a few J seats is why I couldn't request Y to J on SYD to BKK just after Xmas. With B class Y tix, yet could request online for M class tix BKK-SYD.
Ahh well, plat line helped with the request tonight. Almost at 800k points (just me) and no plans for them. :/

QF30 on 22/12 is showing as full in Y and 6 left in J. I'll save my points and if I'm lucky enough to get an op-up, so be it, otherwise I'll bide my time for another flight.

Thanks for this thread..... Managed to request an upgrade on my Mel-Lax flights despite them being booked in "o".

Got the special offer mail and requested for an upgrade from Q to J, for a flight from SYD to NRT on 8/12/2012. Fingers crossed!!

I've just put in a request from O -> J on QF82 in a month's time. Why? I don't know, perhaps I want to have another set of PJs. But it's easy enough to cancel anyhow.

only have one O class booking coming up to AKL and can't upgrade it, actually not that I would but just wanted to check if it was possible :D

I'd be spewing if I had deliberately booked an upgradeable fare. Maybe this is another of the 91 reasons - p--- off the customers that spend more money with you...

Point upgrades are generally a poor use of points anyway, unless work has paid for the underlying fare.

I wouldn't do it.

My plan is still to get to 1,000,000 QFF points....

That's always my plan too John, but I get to 900K odd and temptation always gets me (plus a mild fear that Qantas will do an "Ansett"). It would be nice to be a millionaire just once in my life :)

I will never get there....in the last year, I have burnt > 500000 pts. I'm firmly in the "burn as fast as you can" category with point deflation and Ansett at the back of my mind!

Thanks for posting this. I actually got the email but didn't think the other flights would open up. It's worth a shot as my Per-Sin flight that departs at 2300 would be nice to have as business class. It's a poor plane for the points used but I look at it as a once way points + pay of $300 + 24000 points. Even at 3c/point it's not bad value because the Per-Sin vv. flights are overpriced in business.

Why spewing? If you did book that fare, you would have already put in the upgrade and would be ahead in the queue...

Like to empty the tank regularly........it's amazing how fast the tank fills again.

That's truly a strange statement. IMO upgrades can be some of the best value, especially on international flights such as the topic of this thread.
