150 SC to SG - status run time!

Hi all,

I need to pick your collective FF brains to come up with a solution to fast-track my requalification to SG.

I have, until recently, been living overseas and so all of my flying (apart from back home) moved away from QF. Unfortunately until AB came along Oneworld wasn't really an option in Germany and so my status with QF went back down to QP PS. Since returning I have been doing fortnightly SYD-MEL-SYD runs and am now 150 SC from requalifying for Gold. At the moment most of my travel is privately paid, however this is likely to change next year. Also in this membership year I have done two return MEL-SIN-FRA in Y+. Next year I intend to bump this up to two J runs on this route (before it is cut!), as well as continuing the fortnightly SYD-MEL runs and adding business travel to ADL and HBA.

My question to you:

I have a couple of spare weekends coming up (16-18.11, 23-25.11, 14-16.12) and around 50,000 points I can use. I'd prefer to do single day runs (leave early and return later the same day) so as to reduce transport and accomodation costs. Unfortunately the only Double SC offer I have been made involves international travel to destinations I have no intention of visiting.

I have read through a number of the previous JASA threads on here but am finding that many of the suggestions are no longer available at the quoted amount of points (or maybe I'm not looking hard enough??).

A CBR-xSYD-HBA return JASA would get you the needed SCs but there doesn't seem to be any cheap availability on those weekends

For 64,000 points you can get 2 x JASA SYD-MEL-SYD. Lots of availability and 160 SCs.

Keep an eye on them they do change. It's a good little trip that one.

Just looked at this option, as of course it would be the most practical for me, however I can only find JASAs at around 49,000 a pop?

You can reduce the number of points required from 49000 to 32000 by paying 180$ in the points + pay option.

Pretty expensive, a red e deal to ADL, then a JASA, followed by a red e deal to get back to Sydney will accumulate 155 SC

I'm doing a SYD-BNE-CNS-BNE-SYD JASA for a long weekend in the sun. Points + $160. Am on QF19 out of Sydney on a Thu so will get breakfast in the Intl FLounge. And have registered for a DSC promo so should net 400 SCs.
