This website is a good source:

Qantas Fleet | Airfleets aviation

Clearly shows that -OGA, B, C and D have left the fleet and E and F are in storage, which more or less means left the fleet awaiting sale/breakup but still Qantas owned. Oh BTW is says there are 24 767's in the Qantas fleet, but a very close look shows that it is also including the dedicated freighter, so 23 passenger a/c.

And another good source if you know what you looking for:

CASA Search -- CASA Aircraft Register

VH-OGJ seems to have fallen off the radar as it operated zip according to the jet tracker feature on the QF Source website compared to other regos eg OGG.

The QANTAS Source - QANTAS Jet Tracker.

That was a flight to BNE where the aircraft are being refurbed.

Most likely this is next aircraft getting the upgrade.
Supposed to take 2 weeks.
OGQ took 20 days from arrival BNE till next flight.

After all that flying, you are not jetlagged serfty?

OGJ is the config I have for SYD-HNL... There is hope for me yet! 1 in 4 chance...

I doubt it, you should have an international bird, with a missing seat in row 23 middle section.

Yes, you're quite right... a massive oversight on my end in hope of getting a refurb... Looks like I'm going to have to start finding ways to make my laptop last the 10 hour flight...

They are iPad 2, and I think they are jail broken, mainly because the button functionality is different. The home button does nothing at all. You power up and power down by holding the top and home buttons in for 5 seconds. Normally this is the combination for a hard reset. The iPad boots straight to Safari. You never see the iOS home screen. You cannot exit Safari.

Surely they are even more heavily 'jailed'! Moved to high-security rather than jail broken, if you will ;)
Thanks for the great photos. I actually always enjoy a 767 run between ADL and SYD... but have none in my upcoming bookings, sadly. I'd like to try this all out!

Apple has official tools for enterprise deployment. You don't need to jail break to secure them.

Flew the new fit-out yesterday. It's picky I know but I couldn't help noticing that the lovely new seats contrasted with scuff-marks on the interior walls and a really dirty floor (crumbs and other yuk in carpet joins etc). I'm not a clean-freak but little things like that stand out more against the new bits. As far as the iPads go, well mine didn't stream at all. My seat-mate managed to get hers going about halfway through the flight. Cabin crew suggested surprise they are being rolled-out on domestic as "when 140 people are attempting to start them at once there are long delays and really these are suited more to long-haul flights". Also the ear buds are useless - I plugged them into my iPhone and even on max volume could only just hear. Noise-isolation models would be better, or bring your own (which I'd forgotten to do this flight).

It was also my first QF flight after a solid 9 months of flying DJ and so yes, dissapointing all round as the DJ are just so far ahead of the game now I think. But I'm flying QF over the next two months due to their double-SC offer just so I can retain Gold.

How did you find the length of the cord for the ear buds? Long enough?

Yes the cord length is fine, in fact its quite long really. It has a built-in twin-pronged airline plug and one of the plugs rotates to give you the single 3.5mm plug you need for the iPad. That said, it looks flimsy and I had to hold it in place in my iPhone to get sound. So it's bad - best to buy a decent pair of Logitech noise-cancelling buds (can be found for $15 at Logitech Shop) or pay up for the better cans.

What luck!! Walked over to gate 7 at MEL after QF648 and VH-OGQ is patiently awaiting a 0800 departure to SYD!

:D Will provide a review!

(Watch a late gate and/or A/C change come my way now!)

Just seen 5 ground crew walk on board with 5 carts + headphones. Guess that solves any guessing about where the iPads go at the end of the day

I note the aircraft seat map shows a galley where there was not one before at the start of the Y cabin, it would be interesting to ask why it's been put in as part of the refurb at the cost of a few seats?

Perhaps it's an airborne Genius Bar for the iPads?

There is indeed a galley

No review from me.....cracked windscreen in the coughpit means a chabge of aircraft. Back to slumming it :(

I'm on this flight too. Shortest time on a plane ever - last aircraft that went unserviceable I got to spend around 45 minutes in the seat before QF gave up and put us on another flight.

I did have time to see the in-pocket iPads and wonder how they're actually secured :)
