The change in loyalty bonus will cost me 13,000 points. Not huge but still less than I would have received under the old scheme.

They clearly DKWHI.Well if I'd selected 11F as my preferred seat, I probably wouldn't have moved either. Like you, they obviously have a preference - your change of schedule meant they had the opportunity to take that seat - and they did.
Expecting them to move is a bit rich IMHO.
So, if a lady WP asked you to give up your seat and move to a middle seat in the back row, you would?i was always taught to give my seat up for a lady
Damn. I feel inadequate at 186k miles for this year! (of which, around 40k were redemption flights on AA and QF, the rest are spread over VA, QF, UA, DL, AA, BA, JQ and NZ194,000 miles - that's almost double AA EXP! My hat goes off to you, Fantic125!
The very terms scum gold and wanker platinum were created in jest, but might be deemed offensive to newcomers on AFF.

I'm a newcomer and I find it hilarious that there are designations like PS, SC and WP.
With you on the long haul Y - my calendar year so far is 239,936 miles (222,937 on OW) and we still have 2.5 months to go. Last calendar year I did 266138 miles total and this year, I look set to pass that easily.... For my last QFF membership year I fell short by about 600 SCs from P1 and that was mainly because I took long service leave for two months and flew on award flights around the world with my family. Without that 2 months of non-earning, I think I would have come really close to P1 (although may have still missed out due to so many CX flights.....or like a number of us in the forum, lots of international flights in Y.
My qualifying year for WP took 62 flights, 194,453 miles, 534 hrs BIS to achieve 1,750 SC's..... but from a particular persons perspective on this forum I shouldn't have the right to access the F lounge for frequent flyers because I'm not flying J or F.....
(Added) The other thing to consider is that even if I somehow managed to obtain a DSC offer for the entire year, I still wouldn't have qualified for P1, falling short by 100SC's. If, however, I had flown those same flights in J (as a certain poster here professes to only flying) then I would have achieved a total of 7,000 SC's; LTS in one year.![]()

IMO the ones that are complaining are the ones that would find something to complain about no matter what the reality.
That would depend on if it is a recognised abbreviation or not and how much strain it puts on the person trying to decipher it.I'm a newcomer and I find it hilarious that there are designations like PS, SC and WP.
Abbreviations really help when you're typing and in a rush![]()
I can only reiterate that flying to me is an occupational hazard. When I travel I like to maximise the comfort available to me and use whatever FF status benefits I can. The forward cabin in J on the QF A380 has 18 seats in it, no bassinet seats, and I guess does have an exclusivity about it in that advance seat selection in this cabin is only available to WP's and above. You probably need to address your question to QF, I don't make the rules about who can and can't select seats in this cabin.
I thought Golds were able to able to select the same seats as Platinums on international flights.Well something is wrong with the system then as me and the missus are both SG and will be firmly in Emerald City on QF1, 27th December!
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

So there it is! The WP is doomed!![]()
MrsH's experience as an SG was somewhat different. I had to ring the Premium Desk to link her booking to mine to get her 12F, and the customer service person had to "override the system" to get her the seat. this would have been mid 2011.
FYI for those that have missed it, Qantas have updated the marketing on thier website:
Reason 92; "WP's you're NOT the reason we fly."
Long winded way of saying that it was definitely possible to have a seat in Emerald City allocated as a non WP
