Qantas to upgrade business class sleep experience

That's actually a good point. I wonder where EK store theirs for their J cabin.

I would've guessed in a special (read: separated) overhead compartment. Otherwise, I really won't know where they would have the space for 50-60 odd mattresses. (It's not like F where you only have to store 14 of them, though suffice to say I wonder where they put those).

Especially in the new config A380s, there's hardly any cupboard to speak of as it is, let alone to store that many mattresses.

In current A380 F they are kept in the locker under staircase, but these are quiet large as t hey are sheepskin, The new J ones will not be as substantial as those. There are a number of places to store it all in front galley in front of row 11, hopefully they will get rid of the ghastly grey PJ's. Nothing worse then seeing those appear in the Y cabin from people who have bought them on eBay.

Noice

How do you know that passengers in Y wearing J PJ's bought them on eBay?
Just curious

Well, they are 'readily' available on eBay, but suffice to say it could be just those pax who can't afford to fly QF J all the time ;)

I'm hoping the duvets are a bit thinner and the mattresses not sheepskin to be honest, and they'd be better than F - I find them too hot.

I'll be very happy with the mooted duvets... find the Skybed IIs a bit on the hard side

As for storage, how about how about the overhead bins of Y upstairs?

Keep your grubby J hands off our Y storage bins!

I need those to store my e-bay purchased pyjamas!!

I actually find the existing blankets perfect, so I'd be inclined to agree with you.

Thankfully I have never been into the whY cabin to see such a horrid spectacle in a QF intl flight (since Pjs were introduced for J pax).

I guess cabin crew would see that a fair bit... And I guess disgruntled cabin crew would post about it.

I would actually love to see a no service zone, No food/drink comes in just a quiet zone where you can sleep the entire way.

Lights are also disabled as well so I don't have the PJ's issue

mmm no lighting, interesting...

I have actually been on a plane with no lights (and that includes the no smoking signs as well), quite romantic.

If they could finally get rid of SkySlope, that would be even better. All the duvets in the world won't help you sleep on that thing.

im sorry, but do you understand the meaning of unpublished and commercial in confidence?

Unable to say anything, just as you would find nobody on this site willing to publish CL details, but the benefits are well understood by those with whom they need to be.

But you've already said something. Do you know about commercial in confidence?

That said, it doesn't seem to address the droop issue most people are having, and a mattress will just weigh down on that lower extension even further. Next thing you know it someone's gonna snap that Skybed Mk II in half. Maybe they should consider reinforcing the Skybed.

I suggest a little plastic pyramid (say about a foot high) that attaches to the existing flooring system and provides a point that holds up the footrest end of the bed, without significantly limiting legroom or egress.

I can't sleep on a MK1 Skybed without Velcro undies, MKII no need for them. No droop here, all the males must have big heavy feet ;)

I sleep equally well on MK I as on MK II, I find some (read a lot) of Shiraz helps with that ;-)

Nothing to do with my heavy feet.

On my last A380 flight I extended to bed mode whilst standing... The feet section was good 6" below the horizontal.
A lot of previous passengers with big heavy feet :p

I have read it somewhere before as well but I have seen people stand on the seats to access the overhead bins, this could cause some of the drooping issues if done a lot.

Ok, let me educate the masses here, are we paying attention?Emirates I/O does stand for invitation only, but that invitation is extended when you rack up 50 J or F flights at full pay. CL is different in that it is targeted at those who control the corporate travel spend, and not those who do the big miles. [ content removed by moderation]

Well you need to check with your source. The only EK I/O I know always pays for Y on EK.Company policy. But he is the CFO of a Fortune 50 company. And yes is also CL.
