Will these changes be available across the board from mid November? Booked an A330 coming home from HKG 20 Nov, so would be nice to enjoy these genuine improvements :)

So since the EK deal we have had as improvements, all of which are positive;
- Chauffeur Drive
- Mattresses and Duvets in J
- Select on Q trial

Sprucegoose, are you allowed to disclose the details (even vaguely) as to the rumours of the capacity increases (i.e. what routes and when?). From April QF will have an increase of 2562 seats per week out of Melbourne and 1188 seats per week out of Sydney (in the form of increase capacity dedicated to Singapore) but I haven't seen any more announcements beyond that.

Where did you find the criteria for EK I/O?

There have been rumours on criteria for entry to I/O, but nothing concrete.

Source please. PDF or Weblink will suffice.

Thanks in advance, that is, if you can provide the evidence.

im sorry, but do you understand the meaning of unpublished and commercial in confidence?

Unable to say anything, just as you would find nobody on this site willing to publish CL details, but the benefits are well understood by those with whom they need to be.

Yes I can, but my memory is poorly served by excessive alcohol.....

But vaguely the comments were directed at Virgin on the domestic front and some chappie from HO (Lyle Stranbury?) was doing a national road show that was very positively received.

Every CSM now will have gone through the customer service school twice. They will record pax (the washed ones) preferences on ipads. I would have thought on a non sexual lifestyle preference basis. Say if you are a mad punter and follow the pies (similar pursuits). You enjoy the red. The bed is too soft. The duvet is too heavy. Similar to home really!

Emirates I/O does stand for invitation only, but that invitation is extended when you rack up 50 J or F flights at full pay.

From what I have read and talked to others about (including an EK I/O), that is only one of the rumoured criteria for becoming an EK I/O. Achieving it is necessary but not straight out sufficient. So from what I can tell I'll still not agree that EK I/O is equivalent to QF P1. (EK I/O is equivalent to QF CL only that they are invite-only tiers; yes, it is true that the invitation to QF CL is not the same as EK I/O as could be suggested in the flying required (i.e. some vs a lot); that said, it is probably feasible that there are EK I/Os who do not make that 'flights criteria' described).

EDIT: If you so have that information but it is commercial in confidence, then fine...... though suffice to say you still can't state the source (or allude to it at all)? Have you been invited to be an EK I/O perchance?

In any case, you're probably right that the upper tiers will probably get some enhanced (in the literal sense) treatment in this new alliance (if it gets up). That's decent speculation.

Now anat0l there are some wonderful blue tablets that you can take that will fix that droop issue you are experiencing, I suggest you talk to your doctor.

What a relief.... I didn't think for a second you had a sense of humour, what with all that travelling and what not. :)

I think you've said quite enough!!

Good to see QF is starting to come to the same level as VA. They have been using mattress pad's and duvet's since the beginning. Only new idea ise the use of an ipad, VA could use the ipad's/tablets the flight manager's use like QF will be, this would be a positive step.

At the risk of going OT, I can't even watch the bloody news on virgin!!

Thats my basic right!!

Yeah good point, for me its not an issue, the last thing i do flying to LAX is watch the news, even on QF so for me its not an issue.

bit of 'apples' n 'oranges'...VA doesnt have FIRST..(a la VIRGIN ATLANTIC)..their product is placed as BUSINESS/FIRST type product so takes aspects of both..also VA fleet of only 6? 777s is a far less 'cost' to provide as apposed to QF fleet of many more with the longhaul J/C...just a thought

Just hope the chauffeur service will be available to everyone in J even if say BNE-SYD-LAX type flight... oh and start 1st of April.... actually 2nd of April will be better :)

Maybe the mattress will convert into your life jacket by pulling on these straps and blowing on this mouth piece.

The car turns up if the flight is over 12 hours.

The mattress will convert to a LILO so upper tier pax can have a lie down while waiting to be prioritised in the rescue

nice...this must be where the 400mil in 'transformation' costs is going that caused the 'loss'

I will be looking forward to this on my next flight. No complaints from my last flight a few weeks ago with the sky bed but will accept graciously anything that promises to improve the experience.

Just a thought, but where are the mattresses going to be stored?

That's actually a good point. I wonder where EK store theirs for their J cabin.

I would've guessed in a special (read: separated) overhead compartment. Otherwise, I really won't know where they would have the space for 50-60 odd mattresses. (It's not like F where you only have to store 14 of them, though suffice to say I wonder where they put those).

Mattress cupboard.

Especially in the new config A380s, there's hardly any cupboard to speak of as it is, let alone to store that many mattresses.

QF used to store some of their F duvets in the J overhead bins.

I thought one night they had enhanced the experience without broadcast and used one of them.

I got told off severely.

Of course Kama comes into play, I'm in F and someone knocks mine off. I get a bottle of the lovely Leeuwin Estate Chardy as compo.

I think they may need to compress them like those airless bags you use the vac to work. At the end of the flight, who knows, down the shute with the rubbish to be retrieved later?

VA store them in the overhead lockers with the duvets. For 33 J seats I've never had an issue with the locker space due to the storage of them. They are pretty tightly packed
