I am hoping that someone could help me with this.

I am planning a trip to Tahiti next year. Flights I'm looking at are BNE/AKL/PPT return. Qantas flight, then code share with ATN. What SCs will I receive from this trip in J or Y?

For anyone who has done this itinerary, is this the best way to get to Papeete or should I look at another mix. I also thought of doing Y return BNE/AKL and J AKL/PPT.

Would appreciate any advice on this flight. Thanks.

BNE-AKL-PPT return in Y will earn 90SC
BNE-AKL-PPT return in J will earn 360SC

That is probably the most direct route to get there from BNE.

Remember most flights from AU/NZ get into PPT quite late so if planning to head out to BOB/HUH/etc you'll need to overnight in PPT.

Thank you Vec for your reply. I couldn't find that info on the Qantas site. And good advice re staying in PPT

The only advice I have for staying in PPT is don't stay there for long! IMHO there's really nothing of interest on PPT itself.
The islands are truely amazing however. To get to them you'll need to look through Air Tahiti : Domestic airline of Tahiti and her islands >
Good luck, French Polynesia is one of those picture postcard places once you get out to the islands.

been a while since I was in PPT, but they had great bread and very good beer.

I'd really appreciate how I can find this info on the Qantas site so I don't have to trouble you all with this in the future.

This is what I see when I put in the details...

" There are no direct flights between Auckland and Papeete ( and return ) "

I get the same message when I just put in Brisbane as the 1st destination with Papeete as the 2nd.

Thanks for your help.

We plan to stay 1 night in Papeete, then 3 or 4 on Mourea or Bora Bora ( in an over water bungalow if possible ) the we're on the Paul Gauguin for 12 nights. Life is tough!!

This thread may be of assistance when travelling on Qantas flight numbers:

I prefer AirNZ services but I guess if your like earning QF status then this is the way to go. If you do go using NZ then for one day per week you can just stay at AKL overnight before flying morning to PPT and getting there in the afternoon, enabling same day connection to Moorea and Bora Bora. Overnight accommodation near AKL is definitely MUCH cheaper than PPT.

Have fun at French Polynesia! It is a place that I definitely missed!

Thank you serfty for your help with this. I guess I'm being a bit persistent with the exact SCs earned on this route as I wish to maintain my Gold status for next year and as all my air travel is for vacation there isn't a lot of room to wriggle.

I looked up Milage Monkey as you suggested and there are 2 quotes for QF SCs on this route. Please could you tell me which one is correct? QF select ( o/w ) or QF one world. One is double the other as far as SCs are concerned.

It also says that some awards may not be valid due to routing.

I'm not familiar with Milage Monkey so please excuse my ignorance. I'm reasonably new to SCs but learning fast due to this fantastic forum. Just booked my first JASA thanks to all you guys willing to share your time and knowledge to educate us who are less informed. A big thank you.

The part of "mileage monkey" being used is the "oneworld explorer [fare] validator". Your routing is not valid for a "oneworld explorer", so that's why you tick "ignore errors". You should ignore the errors as well. :)

The left hand side of the table generated at the bottom shows the SC's for economy (Y), next is Business (J).
