re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

sponging is it? What is it with people on this forum and on flyertalk who think they own information.
Can't remember saying I think anyone owns this info?. Clearly on the web the information is open to anyone and indeed I too hang about the blogs trying to pick up info.

Have to say this response made me look up the definition of sponger again.

Informal a person who lives off other people by continually taking advantage of their generosity.

Looking at all the blogs there is very little new knowledge, most of the info is discovered by one person then gets very quickly replicated by other bloggers (and FT/AFF are one of their sources). So, yes I think the term is appropriate. Having said that, isn't that why many of us check out the blogs, its an easier way to find out information than doing the research ourselves.

So how am I different, well I'm prepared to admit I'm doing it.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

well if you don't want the information in the public forum don't put it on the internet, simple as that. I have contributed to this thread too and I don't care if a blogger who is being paid links to it, or discusses it. If someone wants to make a business venture out of it then good for them! Don't forget the owner(s) of AFF are also making revenue from ads .

I was merely explaining why some people might hold the view that it is sponging. The explanation i gave was not necessarily reflective of my view.

Ahhh. All the usual suspects back in this thread.

Seems like I may have to do some research into Avianca Lifemiles and what it would cost to get to SE Asia in business class.

Thanks dazz81. The price with promotion sounds about the price I would be willing to pay.

Need to find an alternative as well for a friend after BMI's disappearance although AA is not bad either.

AviancaTaca LifeMiles is the Most Generous Program in Star Alliance, and How You Can Use It - View from the Wing

I spend 4-6 hours every night studying this **** abroad and here when I read over the pages on AFF I'm usually the only one on maybe another member. Now I'm writing this I'm the only member and 25 guests browsing this thread.

There was 42 when I made the comment, I would hope some might join up and contribute to the discussion. Anyway I am off the sweep the kids accounts into mine ;-)

I think i figured out the RGN loophole that is referenced earlier (and the other island). Can i discuss it to see if i am using the only method. Best way to do that without giving it away?

Ok, I'm in :D
Read the entire thread this am, popped over to FT ( yawn zzzz) and now have a shiny new account, plus some others for family that don't yet know about the great advantages of Colombian frequent flyer miles ;)
Now to brush up on my Spanish whilst I eagerly await the next promo

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Just made my first LM redemption for a family member for Xmas!

One-way EDI-MEL in business. CA from FRA-MEL...doubts about the soft product but a full flat bed all the way and better connections trumped the LH A380.

34k miles + $675 cash + $363 tax (UK APD of course being the vast majority).

Reservation shows up in CMT...now just the wait to see ticket numbers and check all is well.

...and now time to buy some more miles and get the return trip and next years holiday flights!
