Hi, I am just wondering if anyone can clarify if this is how points plus pay works.

I am looking at LAX-SYD reward flights and just selected one seat as a dummy booking. I tried in all 3 classes but will use economy to explain, all 3 classes were the same though in regards to the issue I think I am having.

LAX-SYD came up at 45,700 points plus pay $383 or total points of 93,600.

After hitting proceed, you get to the next page fill in your information and hit proceed again. It moves on to the next page and you fill in a bit more information about nationality and passport and then you hit proceed again. On this next page it brings up the slider where you can reduce the total points plus pay. if I move slider down to the minimum points the lowest I can go is 47,000 and pay $377.30.

So this is where I think the problem is but maybe it is not a problem. I am sure when I looked at this the other night I could reduce the points and amount to pay in the first search (45,700 + $383 in this case) to a lower points total and pay more at this page with the slider bar. At this page with the slider bar i can only reduce to 47,000 points with a pay amount of $377.30. The other night I thought I could reduce the economy down to around 30,000 points give or take a few, i didn't record the amount though. I thought it was the same for PE and J as well. Would love to know if this is how it should be or if there is a problem. In any instance I don't know why I can't pay the 45,700 + $383 that comes up in the initial search. I hope this is not too confusing to follow but I am sure there is someone out there that can help clarify.

Anyone got any experience with this?

47,000 points looks to be the correct minimum for an economy fare. Don't know why it is giving 45,700, other than suggesting something is incorrect in the setup somewhere.

Thanks, looks like you are right, I just had a look at the redeem with airlines page in Velocity and it shows SYD-LAX at 47,000. A little bug I suppose.
