I'm looking at a guys weekend in MEL shortly. We'll probably stay at the HSW and they have a room available for 3 adults. It's a bit more expensive than the couples room, but still not too bad.

If I book it as Hilton Diamond, are my privlidges (lounge, breakfast) extended to all registered (ie paid) guests or just one?

To paraphrase, the HHonors T&C's state the diamond benefit is applicable to the member & "... One paid guest registered to your room".

The would be a fee for a second guest.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Yes, the T&Cs mention that you won't get Diamond benefits for all three, but I would imagine that a call to the hotel to ask them about this might mean that the hotel will be understanding. I would give them a call and politely inquire as to whether they might be able to extend benefits to all three guests. After all, many of these hotels are extending Diamond benefits to a second room booked by the Diamond member too.

I might give that a try. Worst case, I'm not too concerned with paying for one extra guest in the Exec Lounge. I'd assume it's still about $50 at the HSW? (same as the Park). It'll be interesting to see what sort of upgrade they offer. I'm not sure if the 1 bedroom suites actually fit 3 people, but maybe hoping for a 2 bedroom is pushing it!

I was very impressed with the service at the Hilton on the Park last week so it'll be interesting to see if HSW can back it up.

I believe for evening drinks it is $45 per extra guest.
There are additional charges for afternoon tea and for breakfast, too.

But I suspect if you talk to the hotel and ask that there are three paying guests in the room and you're not just sneaking the extra one in, I would think it reasonable that they should allow them the Diamond benefit. I can't see HSW playing hardball here.

I have never had an issue bringing guests into the Hilton Lounge. We sometimes hold small meetings where a participant or two are not even staying at the hotel, and have never been quizzed.

It happens. I brought a friends into HSW, and had to have a lengthy discussion with the lounge manager who was drafting me up a charge invoice on the spot. Don't assume it won't happen.

This might be a reason they'd balk at it.........."guys weekend" is often code for booze, booze and more booze and if it's for free, all the better.

haha true, although there's only so much one can drink at 6pm (and we'd just be in from a few hours in the SYD F lounge... oh wait ).

I'll call ahead and ask nicely, but if it's only $45 then I'm not too fussed either way. What's the HSW lounge like? I was fairly happy with the Hilton on the Park lounge last weekend. Are they similar?

It's huge, and staff are good. Array of food is good (although not really dinner food), and it's beer and wine and soft drinks from memory - no spirits. I don't drink though, so I'm not sure about the last bit, though.

Lots of big chairs and space. I like it very much!

I was with straitman a couple of weeks ago at HSW exec lounge and would swear blind that he was served a spirit of some sort to the table.
Mind you that could have been a special order for him

Thanks, sounds good. Not too interested in spirits, although I did notice at the other Hilton lounge that people were requesting spirits and having them delivered to the table. Not sure if they were going on the bill or not.

I had Bundy and Coke. They do have some spirits though they just don't make it too obvious to the masses.

Just a couple of subtle notes around the lounge saying spirits are available on request. I've found that the staff is proactive in 'refreshing' the glass though. I think the team working the South Wharf lounge is very good.

Hilton didn't want to play ball with the extra guest, ended up having to pay for it.

We were upgraded to a lovely 2 bedroom suite, however, so I'm not complaining!
