Best visa card for earning Kris Flyer Points?

SYD-AMS is how I scored my J Saver flight last year. All the other cities were not showing any saver availability even a year out.

From AMS, I was heading to London and for something different I took the overnight ferry (Hook of Holland-Harwich). I was impressed at how good the journey was.

PF I was in same boat last year - best J Saver option I could get into Eorope booking 10mths out on dates we wanted was into AMS - we then had 2 hr coonection to BCN - BCN serviced by 77W so only J Std available whebn we booked.

But of course all that has changed - have already booked 2 x J Saver MEL-SIN-BCN for July nerxt year at 132K pts. MEL-SIN on 380 - SIN-BCN on 77W - how good is that?

I take it that is 132K one way, i.e. 264K return???

Sorry - that was typo - last year before new SQ redemption regime pts cost MEL-SIN-AMS 132K ret in J

Now 2 x J Savers MEL-SIN-BCN = 162K one way after 15% online discount - pts from my account - Cruiserette will secure 2 x J Saver awards ex CDG to get us home when they become redeemable in 3 days time - both CDG-SIN and SIN-MEL legs at this point in time showing 380 - again pts cost will be 162K after online discount - and remember with SQ you can book reward flts 350 days out

162K KF pts on current AMEX spend = AD108K spend / 162K KF pts on current Select spend = AD122K spend - as I said gotta love that.

I certainly wish I had of worked all this out before pumping $350k in the last year through my Woolies card, chasing QFF points!

Better late than never I guess!

Unfortunately sometimes in life experience does not come cheaply mghinoz - the positive is that you are now armed with the knowledge - go forth and capitalize.

Live and learn. :-)

I can't recall how I found the AFF forum but I have learned so much. I am not a frequent flyer by any stretch but playing the credit card game has allowed me to fly RTW in business, spending no more than I would have anyway. I also have 196K SQ points waiting for the next trip.

Well after almost a year of researching (lurking) the AFF forums, I've finally decided to jump in!

I've been collecting (and occasionally redeeming) QFF points via credit card spend for many years.

Lately I've been thinking that I should explore the Krisflyer program, and see if that offers better value... which brings me to this thread.

I have been trying to work out the redemption from CitiRewards into KF.... let's see if I have my calculations right:

* Citi Select earns 2 Citi Rewards (CR) points per $1 spent (domestically) - unlimited, no expiry

* 1.5 CR points = 1 Krisflyer (KF) point, so 1 CR = 0.67 KF point

* So, $1 spent = 2 CR = 1.33 KF points.

A few questions I have:

1) Are the calculations I have above correct?
2) Is this the best KF earning card in Australia?
3) Are there any documented limitations on the Citi cards re spending on ATO / utilities, as inferred above?
4) Can we 'warehouse' the points in the CR program, and then redeem to either KF or QFF at a later date?

Like you, I am now belatedly doing research on this subject.

The accumulative wisdom here is great.

I was like a lemming with my card spending.

So, to repeat the previous question (to bring it to Nov 2012), is CitiSelect still the best KF card in Australia (annual spending 200K on cards, mostly in Oz) ?

Is the CitiSelect worth the extra $300 in annual fee compared to the Citibank Signature (where you get only 1.5 CR for each $1 vs 2 CR with the Citi Select)?

In my calculation (of 200K spending), that would equal to 100,000CR more in the Select card.

Is that sufficient to justify the extra $300 annually?

Thanks, guys / girls
