Passing on the cost is the POINT of the carbon tax. It is designed to make carbon intensive activities relatively more expensive than non-carbon intensive activities so as to drive investment in non-carbon dependent fuels and in fuel efficiency. And a good thing it is too and infinitely cheaper and more efficient that the nonsense the opposition is pedalling in response.

Agreed. Tax is designed to encourage changes in behavior including investment. Seems more sensible than just giving Government handouts, the market via costs usually leads to changed investment and innovation.
However I understand if you think we don't need cleaner or renewal energy sources why you'd hate both options of addressing this issue
D) As big polluting countries are not charging their manufacturers carbon taxes, we are actually charging ourselves taxes that make our industry uncompetitive.
A) The current Government (thanks to the Greens) is sinking Billions into nonsense schemes. Congratulations.
B) The current Government (thanks to vote buying) is sinking Billions into the pockets of <some> people affected by the Carbon tax. How is this going to change their attitude?
C) Industry are using the Carbon Tax to increase prices. The ACCC is toothless, and won't really care. Congratulations.

Did you even look at The Australian article I linked to in post #2??The Tax is designed to encourage the Greens to vote with Labor.
Remember Julia's"No carbon tax" before the last election.
But the voters did not give labor a majority --> Hence the Greens were needed. They got want they wanted
Something that makes 0.0000000001% of a difference, has to be good policy:!:
I'm sure every ALP MP & Senator is thinking exactly the same thing
So does that mean you don't put your rubbish in the bin when you're out because, on it's own, your coke bottle or what have you, makes only a small difference to the amount of litter around your hometown?Something that makes 0.0000000001% of a difference, has to be good policy:!:
Mr Joyce says the company is also investing in more fuel-efficient aircraft and reducing on-board weight to lessen the pollution impost
The approach that causes the maximum amount of carbon reduction for the minimum possible cost is the best policy. Compared to the opposition's policy which will achieve considerably less and cost considerably more then of course it is good policy.
